As I have said before the awarding of a drilling contract is usually known throughout that company and is not tight hole(secret)especially as crews are gearing up to move to a new location either already on board or coming on at crew change, airline tickets easily changed and the boys do like to know where they are going . If BPC say we are going to drill then all the negotiation should have been done, day rates, third party suppliers and service companies, drilling equipment etc. Of course they keep their mobiles but the rigs have their own communication system anyway. IF Seadrill are the drilling contractors then the best place to look for information would be on Seadrill's news bulletin site. bonum, as an advocate of RNS's have a look at SXX they have had 28 since yesterday. I dove out of SXX some months ago as I did with IQE and added the monies into BPC one of my better moves(touch wood). Feel sorry for the ones who stayed in.

You would be surprised how quickly a rig can be mobilised using a dry tow vessel, remember oil drilling operations are 24/365.
Did hear Seadrill could be selling some of their uncontracted rigs.
Not sure you can produce from a semi but you can drill and produce oil from a jackup as per Noble Chuck Syring and Maerske in Qatar some years ago, an amazing project, drilling and producing while awaiting the Jacket to be manufactured, transported and set. The 12 well platform was then handed over to the jacket when two very large "I" beams were extended. welded to the well platform and the hook fastenings on the rig were cut away. Amazing project, never even got a baseball cap.
