Alas no, I haven't bought. However some context is needed to soften the blow from this news. I'll be buying when the FEED comes in as with it, there will most likely be a new investor.

To be fair, there 100’s of projects that rely on government funding to proceed. Shell have pulled out of projects before, several of which have gone on to be very successful.
Shell are consolidating and focusing on projects in which they have more control, in the interest of shareholders.
When you break it down, Shell didn’t bring as much value to this project as you may first think. The only value is their branding - which clearly works against the project at times like this.
IAG cannot pull the plug on this. They have pulled the plug on a previous project (GreenSky) and cannot afford the reputations damage of doing it again.
All the original challenges with this project remain. Assuming the desicion to leave was not due to VLS themselves and rather because of Shells situation, then this project will still proceed as per the original plan.

Key difference here is that Shell could use their own FT tech.

Shell were only in this for cheap PR. Said this since the beginning.
As alluded to in their statement, they want to concentrate on their own technology, rather than bankrolling a project that they have little to no technical control or influence over.
The problem with light touch arrangements like this is it makes it too easy to pull out when you feel like it. Shell will move on. VLS will carry on as per their development plan.

To all those that berated me for saying Shell’s role was ‘light touch at best’.

Not a technology competitor, but a potential market competitor. That said, with so much SAF demand and so little SAF production, there is plenty of room for others to join the fray.
VLS will have a significant advantage over others as they are further ahead with their project. However, it’s by no means a straight road ahead.

Not specifically related to VLS, but good news for CCS and low carbon hydrogen. Potential future site for VLS?

Without being defamatory, i wouldn't take HW's words as gospel. I don't think hes anywhere near the coalface on this.

a positive Wood announcement - one that focuses on RDF gasification, would send this share into low earth orbit. If Wood then follow up with a ownership stake proposal, then it'll be on its way to Mars.

Actually Lanzatech is one of them. They are gasifying MSW and using the syngas in the Lanazatech process to produce ethanol (which is then able to be converted to jet fuel).
The other is obviously Fulcrum, who VLS are trying to emulate (it'd be painful for Wareborn to say that obviously)

HRH has discussed waste to jet fuel with BA previously.
