And for the record I’ve cut bad long positions that have bounced the very next day on news! Yep . Absolutely.
It happens. But you can’t just watch capital erode in positions unless you think you know something that the market doesn’t. And as a retail investor that’s not realistic

I know AIM is different to an extent but not that different.

You sell to protect capital, whether it’s the firm’s or your own.
Let’s just say that hypothetically I was responsible for a group of traders. I mean if I didn’t work for Marks and Sparks of course. And all those traders were just allowed to run all their bad long positions. There are risk meetings every day regarding capital commitment and best use of capital. Lots of measurements regarding risk tolerance by stock, sector and market are monitored daily. As are an individual trader’s performance. Bad positions are looked at and discussed daily. And cut as and when necessary

What in stocks?
Both in my career and personally absolutely yes.
As a matter of fact it’s the bad trades you never forget. Always a good question to ask in an interview….. “What’s the worst trade you’ve ever made?” You can learn a lot about somebody from that one little question. I’m giving away all my trade secrets! And all for free :-D

Yep. And if that’s the case you sell stocks now and buy them back when the markets are imploding. Right?

But if you are right Trisor re markets crashing, and that’s definitely not out of the question, then you would be mad to hold stocks right?

Things are prettty ugly out there already. A crash of what exactly? Housing market, stock market? Everything?
I’d take a negotiated end to the war as a pretty good catalyst for markets.

Let me try to explain. Firstly my comments re trading are general and are relevant to every stock one trades.
With regard to NNN….
If you really believe that this stock is going to 2p or 5p or 10p and you are a LTH then whether you buy at 0.4p or 0.6p is largely irrelevant. Yet I’ve seen people on here continually add as the price falls. And that is simply to get their average down yet the risk increases . Most are probably doing that so they can get out flat on the next bounce. And that’s dangerous in my opinion.

What does that mean Trisor? Spread-betting?

Unfortunately for most mere mortals it’s human nature not to want to admit defeat on bad positions and to actually add to them. And I’m not being specific to this stock. But if I’m buying a stock I’ll get in at a level and then wait. If I am going to add personally I prefer to buy when others are buying, because markets, whilst no means perfect, are most often correct. And the trend is usually your friend.
Anyway, I’m getting slaughtered in a couple of mine today so what do I know??!!
