No need for me to go into the CAB's lack of cooperation in the whole process, but the MI had to refer back to the Government again. It was necessary. In my view. Whether the Government now grants or otherwise the Concession itself or gets the MI to do it, I'm not certain. But the Government will decide on the verdict, because the MI couldn't.

The Government may direct the MI to grant the award, but the MI, as we know, deemed itself unable to give/deny an award of its own accord, without the referral (again) back to the Government.

Ed, I'm not sure that I'm right. The LKAB site does refer to exploration. Bit confusing, as you mention, but if State owned and the State doesn't explore, does LKAB explore and recommend what to exploit? Who bloody pays for it? Lol. Answers on a herring head.

Otherwise Ed, LKAB would surely have been all over Kallak, long before we got to explore and prove it up. I think that calls for a Ka-Pow! Only my thoughts, as ever. The point is, our ball is rolling.

My take is that LKAB is the recognised State miner and as the State doesn't explore. LKAB therefore doesn't explore, it only exploits the resources or acts as agreed with and directed by the State. Resources being proven up by other mining/exploration companies that aren't under State ownership. I may be wrong, but in accordance with the existing policy, the lack of exploration makes sense, insofar as it means that there won't be the continual burning through of State funds. LKAB only stepping in then at the business end, to partner with or buy out companies on behalf of the State, in order to exploit those proven resources and bring home the national bacon.
