Seven weeks on from 31st July……when will we get the first update?

“ Additionally, recruitment into the neoadjuvant arm of the Modi-1 trial in combination with CPI was also approved. This study will recruit 30 patients who will be randomised at diagnosis to receive either two doses of Modi-1 three weeks apart or two doses of Modi-1 plus one dose of CPI. Tumour biopsies will be taken prior to immunisation and from the tumour resection 6 weeks following the initial vaccination. The two tumour samples will allow the extent of T cell infiltration and activation pre- and post-Modi-1 vaccination to be assessed with and without a checkpoint inhibitor.”

Its randomised, of course, but if both arms of the comparison produce strong results, then it may be sooner than one thinks…..My guess is mid-October….

I see the size of the buybacks seems to have increased somewhat. Perhaps this is due to availability of stock, but perhaps it is due to a need to get a move on whilst they still can at current levels….

Hitting nails on the head there, Ruck. With the passage of time and data, estimated NPVs will rise. One important caveat is whether sufficient cash can be generated en route to enable max value to be obtained with Scancell as an independent entity... or whether someone comes along with a bid at a premium so large it can't be ignored.

I think we can expect the full range of tactics to be employed in the near term to prise the stock out of the hands of impatient punters. As happened this morning, I suspect they will be hoovering up whatever they can tomorrow by paying up close to the round number that is notionally mid-market before going 17 bid again.

Yup…..the data from the resected tumours will be of pivotal importance, I think!

Wonder when we’ll get the first update on that cohort, given that resection follows only six weeks after treatment?

That is an extremely good point. 👍…..The regulatory regime having been changed, post-Covid, to allow faster approvals for game-changing treatments……

Just to be completely clear on the significance of BMS, they make BOTH of the CPIs used in Scancell’s trial - the first of which goes off-patent in 2024….

YERVOY® (ipilimumab) is a prescription medicine used in adults to help prevent melanoma (a kind of skin cancer) from coming back after it and lymph nodes that contain cancer have been removed by surgery

……so they have really urgent need to extend their patent, especially as there appears to be a material improvement in the treatment of melanoma in the offing….

This stood out for me…….

…..that and the fact that iSCIB1+ addresses a much bigger potential market……

No the rise yesterday didn’t happen by accident. The number of institutional investors in this stock is miniscule, especially in relation to the total size of the healthcare investing market. A careful reading of all last week’s comments, poster summaries etc will have indicated to any decent analyst that there was likely to be something of interest emerging at or before the Mikan conference - so I have no doubt that one or more funds decided they had to get an opening position yesterday, and they started off with that clear intention.

Shareholders who spent the summer asleep won’t have woken up in time.

I expect this week will be quite volatile but that volumes will stay around yesterday’s levels. Remember that Vulpes called the market valuation “derisory” back in April - and the price hasn’t yet got back to that derisory level, never mind reflected the new information.

Many will doubtless cash out though and take their 20/30/40% trading profits. They always do. So the canny will buy the intraday dips over coming days.

It could easily be at new 3 year highs by the end of the week…..those who keep selling because they expect a pullback because “thats what usually happens’ may miss out…..

298,000 shares in the closing auction. Almost certainly not the company and unlikely to be Radoff…….maybe someone new looking for a position (at last) before oil price breaks $100 and the 125 deal emerges?

Whilst I agree with much of that, I’ve been told firsthand by one of the marketmakers that he’s lost money on the fall. Remember that marketmakers have an obligation to make a price…..

Whether one makes or loses money depends on price movement direction and what your clientlist does, relative to the rest of the market.
