Without the permits the gas field in Slovenia will grind to a halt and you are well aware of that.
There is no sign that the permits will be issued........... ever. I say again EVER.

"permits soon" you say. Anyone who thinks Ascent are going to get any permits must be in cloud cuckoo land. I believe Jure Leben has no intention of letting ARSO issue ANY permits to Ascent and their partners. As long as he is the minister there is NO chance of ANY permits unless he is ORDERED to release them by someone higher up in Government. I believe even a court order to issue would see him appeal it (taking years more). The man seems to be totally against even burning gas for power etc.. I view him as an extremist that unfortunately has been made a minister!

member of one of these NGO's over there in Slovenia previously? It seems to me both him and Gorazd are on the same side regarding the permits. I really wonder if they know each other vey well? They were both on the same tv show talking about the permits.

I'm sorry but I believe Jure Leben is a massive problem for Ascent. I really believe the only way ANY permits will be released is if he loses his job or he is told to ny someone in Government who is ov er him. Even a court decision in favour os Ascent could be appealed by Jure, and I think he would do that.

received honestly I would be stunned. I believe for Jure leben to authorise issuing them would be like stabbing his eco friends in the back. I simply do not believe he will do it. I believe he is the sort of person who would more likely be a member of one of these NGO's, so opposing them is simply not going to happen.

You don't realise how many times before there has been real hope, only for it to be dashed. We must be talking 50 times or more. It's a waste of time. More importantly it's a waste of money. In my opinion Jure Leben sees the gas field like some sort of Ecological disaster that is/would poison the air. I believe he wants to shut it down no matter how many jobs are lost. I believe he oversees the Environment Ministry so as long as he is there no permits will be issued. If we get a permit to stimulate even one of the wells I will be gobsmacked. I think his attitude if the truth be known would be "over my dead body" as the saying goes. Of course he will not say that as I also believe he is highly economical with the truth.

I think you need a reality check. We have been waiting nearly FIVE YEARS for a permit that should have taken 5 months.
ONE Non Government organisation deleyed it for the first THREE YEARS.
Now the icing on the cake is the new Environment Minister who seems to be doing all he can to stop ANY licenses at all for Ascent. This is of course Jure leben.
So you really think ANY permits are going to land soon........ or ever???

1. He gets replaced by someone who is not an environmental extremist.
2. The PM over there tells him to get the permits issued.
3. A court orders Jure to get them issued. However no doubt this could be appealed.........

Governments handling of the IPPC permit application has been appauling from a legal prospective I believe. If they were being smart they would have issued the IPPC permit to avert legal action by Ascent, then sat on the two permits for stimulating the wells, after all that is what the Environmentalists claim they object to. Same result but no strong legal case looming. The fact they did not do this is suspicious. It makes one suspect that it's really the gas processing unit that someone does not want built. There is a very nasty smell around all of this.

Thanks for spotting and posting that news. There is a good point here. The fact that Croatia will be selling it's gas to Slovenia is good. The Slovenian population probably won't like that much when they have their own gas that can't be delivered because of ARSO and Jure Leben.

We have one problem - the permits. Unless this problem can be overcome Ascent's operations will either be sold (I suppose some huge Company who is willing to wait years for the political opinions to change might buy it), mothballed, or shut down completely. The permit problem is caused by ARSO, the Slovenian Environment Ministry. My opinion is they have been influenced by NGO's, or Jure Leben has told then to sit on the permits. The hydraulic stimulaltion we want for the SANDSTONE is low water volume. This is not the "industrial scale" hydraulic stimulation using high water volumes for getting gas from SLATE that is sometimes called "fracking". I think either some people at ARSO or Jure Leben have decided to stop the hydraulic stimulation for political gain, when even the high water volume actual fracking in Slovenia is not banned. When the jobs start to go in Slovenia I'm going to be letting all the papers over there know who is responsible - ARSO and Mr Leben.
