I reckon it will be more than 14p because of a reduction in the number of careless people crashing their cars. I do not really understand why people crash their cars, I have driven a car for the best part of fifty years and never once crashed.

I do not believe that someone like Murray Legg with his experience would be taking the job on without being pretty sure of his ground.

In my opinion the company is now a cash cow unless they feel the need to buy any more similar businesses which I doubt. THis means some decent size dividends this year and more when folk cease their fear of viruses.

All banks have money all the time, if they didn't have any they would not be banks would they. Mostly it is yours and my money called customer deposits most of which they dish out to people who haven't got enough, that's called loans and mortgages. Then they keep a bit in the tills and machines in case you want some to go to the pub/whatever. You really ought to know by now where the money is or have you never been in a bank?

When did the press ever get anything right; they know no more than you and I. I reckon Antonio will want to out with a feather in his cap so it has to be at least 2p unless they are short of cash (NOT)

P10, as y11 implies this sort of activity is gambling not investing. IMO gamblers tend to lose in the long run, just saying.

Oh and BTW stay away from financial advisers, very few of them are any good at investing.

Will someone of above average intelligence try to explain the need on the part of certain scribblers to constantly hurl insults at one another on this site. I mean what is the point?

Noeyes: Your plan is basically good for these shares, they have provided decent dividends for several years and are likley to continue to do so as their business is one which provides an essential service for most people. They can get it wrong but this is an experienced team and so that is not very likely to occur. It is very unlikley that you will get a significantly better return elsewhere which is relatively risk free. I peronally will hold them without bothering about the largely illogical ups and downs which are caused by some individuals reacting to good or bad news which have little effect upon DLG's business.

TBH I don't actually care very much about the price as I am an investor which I define as a person who buys a stock in order to get a decent regular return. LGEN seems to be able to do this and thus they slowly but steadily grow my wealth for me. If you hope for quick profits you are a gambler and they are not known for being specially good at growing their wealth.

No mention of two directors buying big just before Christmas; now why would they do that?

Well yes, I guess I should be doing that, thanks for reminder. TBH I have been largely absent from the stock market for a few years but shockingly bad interest rates have finally brought me back about a year ago.

I fail to see why buyback is a more politically correct strategy than a special dividend. They both indicate that a business has generated more cash than it needs and that is what any successful business is supposed to be doing. I would go further and suggest that most of you would not be interested in investing in a business which was not able to do this.

Well it would not be tax free if my memory serves me right - over £2k you have to pay a little bit of tax, in my case it would be 7.5% I believe but rich people have to pay more. Still a dam good return in this day and age. I am going to have to scrape together enough cash to buy another tranche if this situation continues.

Probably to do with latest death numbers which sentiment is not logical: 1. Everyone dies. 2. Over half a million people die in the UK every year, can't be helped. 3. If you have passed on neither cash nor shares have any meaning. 4 Cash will never earn you anything. 5. LGEN will probably pay some more good dividends.

For what it's worth the same seems to be happening with Legal & General, one of my "defensive" shares which is pretty well rock solid and carried on paying divs last year despite BOE trying to play the nanny.
