Having been a systems consultant in the past I know that this business often requires long face to face communications. This is much harder if not impossible to do with Boris Johnson's silly and useless rules and thus FDM's business is going to suffer. This is a great shame because much of what they do improves productivity, not that the bumbler would understand that.

Cyber attacks can only succeed if people keep all data in the same box. My company understood this years ago and used three different boxes so that to do any serious harm the predator would have to spend many hours going for all three boxes in order to succed if at all. In this day and age it should not be too costly to use 6 -10 separate boxes which would be virtually impossible to crack so why don'y peopel do it? I still remember the old adage from the seventies - back up or f**K up and I witnessed some people get into difficulty by not doing so, but it seems that some still don't learn.

What makes you think that they can't be wrong? When I was a pension scheme trustee we employed one for several years until I realised that his analyses were as much use as a box of frogs becuase he never ever beat the FT indices. At my suggestion we fired him and invested in index trackers instead. Here's another thought;- if they were all so wonderful they would all be multi-millionaires would they not and so would their clients. BUT THEY AIN'T!

Falky is right f course there is no logical reason for LGEN SP to fall but there are an awful lot of dinlos who panic and sell because other people (also dinlos) are doing it. What they intend to do with the cash which earns nothing these days is anybodys guess.

There are in fact very few "clever investors" although there are many who like to pretend that they are, mainly to boost their own petty egoes. The most common mistake that I have observed is to panic when prices are falling for no good reason. This share is a perfect example in that there is rarely any good/logical reason for the SP to fall yet back in late January it began to fall and a whole lot of people sold for no reason other than that other idiots were doing it. Mr Buffet would tell you that these are the occasions when one should get ready to buy or "do the opposite to what the market is doing. Of course having bottomed out at around £2.45 some people said to themselves "this is completely silly" and began to buy again. So from £2.45 to today's price of £2.86 is an increase of almost 17% in just 3 months, daft ain't it.

Problem is that people do in fact forget. We have a prime minister who has wasted £millions of taxpayers' money, an inveterate liar, a charlatan, a chancer and a demonstrated incompetent negotiator and still people voted Conservative today.

Very tempting to add more in view of the directors' remark about growing the divs. If they hold true to their word, the current 6+% yield may soon become a 7+% yield making this share even more attractive.

Dessy, Nah don't think so. There were plenty of chances last year when SP was lower but nobody moved a muscle; they went for Hastings instead.

Here is a fact:- This business has done absolutely sod all for shareholders in all the years it's been supposedly in business.

Hi Barchid, Just went to Stock Exchange to view all trades. Well there is not much showing so far. I conclude most new shareholders are still in bed or holding on to what they got despite predictions of a big sell off in some quarters. At time of writing MM has narrowed his spread considerably which should make someone happy.

The "market" as you put it but really you mean the FTSE 100, is not dependent on the likes of LGEN's SP. If they are related at all it's by less than 1%. The FTSE is being pulled up by far bigger fish like Astra, Unilever, banks and mines none of which have anything to do with LGEN's business.As we all know, it can sink quite quickly again if "sentiment" turns sour. For "sentiment" read stupidity as I have mentioned before because even apparently intelligent people will often sell perfectly valid and reliable shares just because everyone else is doing it.

Which means absolutely nothing as usual. Brokers, etc., know no more than you and I as I have found many times over the years. Years ago I became a trustee of quite a sizeable pension fund and being an accounant set about analysing the performance of the so called professional adviser who received a nice little retainer of £10k for turning up twice a year and telling us what we should invest in. I soon realised that he was not much cop and we would do better by just using a tracker fund. The other trustees eventually agreed and we moved everything over to an Legal and General tracker and another run by the bank. Of course there are a few fund managers who are the exception but they are few and far between.
