Thanks for that Trouts. I don't do home insurance these days and have not done so for at least 20 yrs. So I am doing what is known as self insuring which can be done if one has enough wealth to take care of the odd burglary or flood.

Have just worked out that young Mr Antonio has gained £25k already on the shares he bought back in March. Knew what he was doing I suspect.

But what will this mean for DLG? I don't actually use them at present because my present insurer does not do price walking so I have stayed put for 4 years and there are others who don't too. Does anyone know if DLG do it to any extent? They must have seen it coming anyway because FCA have been promising they would do it for a while so it's really old news.

Vanadium prices are quite irrelevant the SP is the same today as it was 6 years ago and that says it all.

It's not supposed to be "flying", it's supposed to provide a regular return well above the inflation rate to pension schemes, old ladies and me, which is exactly what it does.

Well you don't get capital gains unless there is an optimistic view of the future income stream. There is an AIM mining outfit which I occasionally look at where some wallies continually try to ramp with their chats to each other. However the company has returned nothing to the shareholders in the last six years and so the SP moves up a couple of pence but soon after falls back again as profit takers do their bit. This behaviour has been going on for at least the last three years and thus despite the ramping that goes on no significant capital gain actually occurs.

Can't agree to that, their business is far too highly geared for a retailer and an expensive one at that. Which means it only takes a slight down turn in the general economy and they are in trouble.

Who cares, it's the excellent dividend record that matters, very undervalued share at current SP.

Gate13, in fact it will NOT take a few hours for a well run "platform" to distrbute divs to share holders, As a retired accountant I can tell you that any decent outfit these days will have a program or spreadsheet set up in advance to run the job on the day in minutes. Got mine on the right day from LSE as I always have.

Hey you guys we have to remember not to panic which is what is going on here. There is absolutely no logical reason for the drop in the SP but people get into a panic, stop thinking properly and logic goes out of the window. I also hold Legal & General and over the last 12 months there SP has been between 180 and 290; they have carried on paying a relatively high dividend of around 6% throughout and for the last four years before that. So why has their SP dropped so low as 180 not once but three times? I'll tell you why it's because of people panicing and losing their minds and this is how the likes of Warren Buffet makes his money.

Hm, I see. If it was me Halifax would get dumped; I simply do not put up with bad service in this day and age. I recently dumped BT because they changed tried to increase their charges without so much as a by your leave. These big companies have to get the message that we will not accept poor service and this is the only way to do it.

I simply do not understand what Halifax has to do with yr problem Banana, DLG banks with RBS as far as I know and that is where our divs are paid from. Jarvis (LSE) obviously got the divs on the morning of 20th and distributed them which is when mine went into my account.

I really do not understand all this perhaps someone could explain.......My shares are held in a Jarvis nominee account as I imagined are also those of other scribblers here. Then my LSE trading account also includes a cash ledger account and as divs arrive they are virtually automatically added to this same cash account by Jarvis as they arrive and of course I got mine yesterday morning as usual. The money then sits there until I decide what to do with it, so what is all this conversation about some banks being late counting it or HL effectively saying you can't use it until 10th of the month, whatever. I would find HL's behaviour particularly annoying but then I would not use them anyway.

Barchid, Not bothered, much of the market seems to be down at present. With just one exception. the rest of my portfolio is off the top at present which includes a couple of high yielders which should not be down at all but I know from many years experience that this happens because there are so many people out there who simply cannot think properly. These are the times as Mr Buffet would say, when one seeks out cheap shares to add to one's wealth.

Have to say that I cannot agree with Armani's logic. The "remaining 25,000 shares" did cost you 40p and that is an inescapable fact. If you were a limited company and put a value of £0 on those shares in your balance sheet, the auditors would qualify your acoounts at the very least and possibly even refuse to do anymore work for you if they regarded said shares to be a significant asset.

Do you people not look at the information that LSE gives on these matters? "LGEN fundamentals" and "LGEN Financial Diary". This platform is possibly the best at this sort of thing and they don't charge fees for doing it unlike some others I could name.

Ivorbig:- Just did a quick calculation and the combined growth and dividend yield over the past three years has been about 230%. Not many investments have shown a return like that and yet folk are still selling for some unknown reason.

General silliness will prevail today because of the latest inflation "surge". Well it's hardly a surge is it considering that it's been near zero for months and is still no where near the BOE 2% target But of course the dough bags who write rubbish in newspapers are trying to start a panic and many do not understand that it will have no effect on the profits of LGEN anyway so we have a bit of selling going on. Don't be stoopid LGEN's yield is way above the CPI rate and thus far better than anything you can get with cash.
