AZD is clearly our largest investment and near term driver of a re-rate upon successful sale back to AZ for P3 and Commercialisation. EoD, UK Gov invested in AZD and with all usual caveats will be the entity placing orders in the billions of dollars alongside UAE at the front of the queue. So if AZ like the results, its a bit of a "no brainer" in buying this back especially if it sees the MHRA giving 'early use' approval. The multiple use cases of AZD will likely lead to many P3 trials on different types of patients, which shows how widely sought after AZD might be.

Nothing to do but wait - and not even that long. Bought a seat and now I'll wait for numbers. If the bet works, I multiply and if not, suck it up and move on.

Good summary. And if you look at other big pharma co's running trials, they all intend to submit compassionate / early use applications as soon as their trials (if successful) complete. Pfizer started its trial in July and still aims to finish and submit this year in the US. Early use is only viable if there's lots of existing safety data etc, of which there is an abundance for AZD that is proven to be safe in over 1,000 patients and to reduce glucose for 4 months.

I would like to emphasise this line as this should be your stock standard reply to anyone trying to claim that several days of waiting indicates a problem -

VELA can do whatever it wants with its 8% stake but I am sure the likes of SGS, EML, Igraine and CIZ, Mubadala and UK Gov are all suitably aligned in seeing this commercialised via AZ and getting optimal returns in the process.

Big Pharma will know these drugs are being raced to market by rivals and are upsells on the vaccines particularly as there is insufficient supply and infrastructure to rely on vaccines alone. Governments paying for this stuff will deal a hammer blow to anyone messing around. There's plenty of players out there that will want a piece of this market, so don't worry about disposal options. Look at who's involved in AZD - they aren't in this for fun or for wasting money.

The 422m diabetics is a vast market when you consider the US gov has just paid $1.2bn for 1.7m doses of its mid-late stage drug. Then think about everyone else that could benefit.

For poorer countries without the infrastructure, this low cost oral tablet is likely more of a game-changer than the vaccine from a practical distribution and affordability perspective.
