Hi MrA, thanks and yes no. 10 would be helpful, although the net gain may be limited.

If I were a politician, I would insist on such funds being invested in UK companies. That would be quite reasonable given the generous tax benefits and promote investing in national wealth rather than overseas wealth. As an investor, no complaints from me re the current setup :-)

Sounds like a poorly researched/written article. Plus not sure why a minister should comment on how a private company is run?! He should get back in his box! Simple.

What a disgrace. How unprepared the board was. Just disturbing given they are supposed to have contingency/succession plans in place for key, senior roles. For Looney they even had ample warning.

They should all be sent home, once a new CEO has been found! That's my Christmas wish!

I think there is one more angle to the increasing bond prices (bottom or near bottom probably reached now): investors have most of this year been filled with fear that banks have unspecified exposures to low yield bonds on their balance sheets. House of cards scenario...

Hopefully we can now put this behind us and we can slowly get back to towards my 200+p target.

Purdey, so true, but only it's a loss if people sell.

Don't forget, large shareholders put in hard cash in the past and showing no signs of going anywhere. I am pretty sure they are not concerned with the share price here, as the ultimate aim is a big exit underpinned by dealmaking. Yet to be seen.

In my view: random until we have news (good or bad).

Mind you, last time we had good news, buying starting before the RNS, as far as I recall. Could have been a coincidence. This looks like a false start to me though.

If we have really good news, expect circuit breakers...

Cookoo, in short, no, I don't! I do try to form views based on the info I have access to. Clearly, it is not always black and white.

I also don't know if the DELT team can monetise. I think (and hope) they can. It's all up for grabs, the underlying asset is very promising based on real data.

Anon, so right re buy backs, but it requires cash to spend, which I would say they didn't have (at least not with confidence) during big parts of Covid.

What they are saying now is that the share is worth more than the current sp, presumably based on their view on the future. Pretty bold, actually and I do think it will pay off. It is probably less immediate vs dividends, but I am personally very happy with buybacks. Draws less attention as well. It is somehow bad to make money these days!!

Purdey, I don't know, never seen it published anywhere. I know of several individuals with large holdings (also see the list on the DELT website), but I could equally imagine many have small holdings, say around GBP 2k each.

If you look at the list, around 20% of the shares are held through HL and II, so worth around GBP 4 million. If average holding is say GBP 2000, then that gives you 2000 shareholders. So it could be a lot, most certainly hundreds, possibly thousands.

Would be interested in other suggestions/estimates or sources of data.

You clearly also have people buying and selling a handful shares, e.g. someone bought 4 shares today?! I don't even know what that means. Unless it is just the MM doing entries so it looks liquid. Don't know, just weird.

Most likely they are not looking at these comments. The only way is to write to them by email.

That's perfectly fine, as they hopefully are working relentlessly to create monetisation.

The wait is a pain, but it would be madness for anybody to sell at s loss, when the best (potentially) is yet to come!

Charlie156, I have no issue with BP as a whole. I have no issue with the results either.

I do have an issue with a sleeping board, they had plenty of warning re Looney. It's was the big secret. No plan B! It's obvious they should be replaced.

I have no issue with green stuff either, but BP should stay in areas where they have core competences and add real value ie liquids and gasses. EV charging fits with the forecourt infrastructure, so that's ok also.

Critically important! It means they have seen the light and intend to stay within their (strong) core competences. Very very good.

Effect on shareholders is profound for those with a bit of patience. Div per ord share up 32% since last year.

If big market players (manipulators...) want it to fall, it will fall, but results are robust.

TA, if it goes beyond this to all guaranteed loans, then I would agree.

However, it also said this in one of the articles:

"A spokesperson for the UK’s business department said it was working with lenders, where necessary, to remove guarantees to protect taxpayer money. The guarantee is often removed voluntarily after discussions between lenders and the BBB for reasons such as data error or where the loans were ineligible."

A non issue in my view. Barclays's lending is very tight, I have first hand experience. I am not concerned at all.

A general removal of state guarantee would also no doubt end up in the courts.

I totally agree; they are not fit to run BP.

What can we do though? Hopefully large shareholders are on the ball and expressing their views!!?

Who knows, seems to be holding up for now. I hold both BP and Shell, but I somehow have more confidence in Shell, including the new CEO.

Don't forget current focus is only on negatives, all the positive stuff is ignored. Ref Jim Cramer at CNBC the other day. Nasty bears!!

BadA, I am also impatiently waiting for news, but in fairness, we don't know what is going on behind closed doors at DELT. If they come out with one or more farm-out deals, then all good. If not, then that will be a problem and I for one will have a big issue with "Deltic Energy has a strong Board and senior management team who are committed to delivering value for our stakeholders." May involve words not suitable for publication here!

For now, I trust they are having serious discussions and it will take the time it needs to take!! I guess some people cannot wait for that, that's fine and that's why we can pick up shares at these low prices. The 2024 drill preps and hence some costs (x2) will need to be incurred in advance, so I really would expect some news this year. Maybe for Xmas :-)

Glen is making lots of cash; may aquire Teck's coal division ; spin off newco coal; good medium/long term demand for everything metal underpinned by the green energy transition - what not to like? Fine to trade the range short term, but this share is solid for me!
