No RNS with results today(yet), so I would conclude this is only an intro of new team and the new/adjusted strategic direction. That's OK, I think. Results will not be great, I am almost certain of that, but already baked into the sp.

BadA: I agree!!! Very unusual to have no RNS for so long. Just look at the past history.

Drop(s) means very little. Thin trading (most people clearly hang on to what they have, waiting for the next RNS) without direction until we have something to work with. I am also clinging on to everything I have, assuming we will have decent news eventually.

Does anybody know when they would normally announce additional buybacks, if any? FY results?

TA1, I agree with your assessment. Collusion for sure. However, once they have made their money, it can be allowed to drift back up. Those who sold in panic are the losers in my opinion, as they will be too shell shocked to buy back at 130 or lower..

FD, yes also true, but it may have to go one day, fully or partially. Green Brigade maybe, but I think in fairness they just outline what it would take if you want to reach so-called net zero by 2050. It will not be met in full for lots of reasons including costs and practicalities.

I see no real impact on Delt. The real risk is DELT not negotiating some proper monetisation :-)

They are taking their sweet time...which may be a good thing in a sense. Hopefully they are doing something behind closed doors!!

FD20, in fairness, the The Second National Infrastructure Assessment is well reserached and well written (in my view having read parts of it). Armitt is no fool either. However, it is a wish list with a HUGE price tag. Unless he lives way beyond 100 years of age, I cannot see him benefitting from have shares in demoition companies...:-)

They have some interesting summaries of past transitions, eg. the shift from town gas to natural gas, and I feel it is quite well balanced and factual in the report. Of course it can and will be done again...one day, but at a huge cost!

"The town gas transition in the 1960s and 1970s required a similar approach (Box 2.4). However,

the challenge may be greater today because the industry is structured differently, there are more

buildings connected to the gas network and social changes mean people are less likely to be at

home to provide access to their property."

Jon Butterworrth is absolutely right, this is a long long journey! I have actually looked at the NIC report. It is actually much more balanced and recognising the long term nature of things vs the statement put in the article. It will come at a huge cost and it will not lead to the gas network just being shut down short term. Not possible and also completely unaffordable. That's also not what they are recommending at all. Note: it is just recommendations to politicians.

The report says:

"The Commission’s analysis suggests that overall investment needs to increase from an

average of around £55 billion per year over the last decade (around ten per cent of UK

investment) to around £70 to 80 billion per year in the 2030s and £60 to £70 billion per

year in the 2040s. This is a significant increase and will be challenging to deliver."

This is for whole sector, not just home heating and the removal of the gas network.

They also say:

"Recommendation 11: Government should plan for the end of the use of natural gas

for heat by:

• banning new connections to the gas network from 2025

• regulating, by 2025, to end the use of fossil fuel heating in commercial buildings

over 1,000m2 by 2035

• ending the sale of all new fossil fuel boilers in 2035

• making provisions for the process of disconnecting customers and

decommissioning, or repurposing, the gas network

• establishing a mechanism for local democratic input into decommissioning plans

• working with Ofgem and the Health and Safety Executive on a plan to ensure

the switch is safe and efficient and that consumers in vulnerable circumstances

are protected."

Big challenges and big numbers! Will take time...enough for Delt to have its day in the sun! :-)

Given the general market conditions, this is pretty good in my view. M&A a cyclical business, things will pick up. Waiting for consensus around interest rates really having topped; well placed for the future and yield will look more attractive once rates on cash start falling again.

It's a boring business :-) , but I am holding until 200+ regardless of how long it takes...

TA1, I agree. They are listed in US though, but I guess they really would need to move the HQ and/or have the main listing in US. BCS trading on NYSE is clearly not enough!! Same discussion for BP and Shell. Partly an issue with UK plc!

Their past scandals have not helped either, but it seems they are getting better on that front.

Results etc are solid, but sp situation not great.

So Bill Ackman speaks and the bond yields falls...coincidence? Is he the new oracle of Omaha II? Makes you wonder if he is playing the market big time (do something, then tell the market, becoming a self fulling prophecy?). I think he might be right though wrt the lag effect of interest rate hikes etc.

If true, it should be good for the equity markets, I think. Let's see! The market is on edge.

Indeed. Also, Shell is the world's largest trader of LNG, so win-win for them. For Delt it's very good partner. However, without monetisation...we small private investors will continue to suffer.

Contemplating writing to the investor relations...although I suspect it cannot be rushed without messing up the negotiations. If they have had no interest by now, I presume they would have updated the market, so I am quietly confident they are indeed negotiating with one or more interested partners.

Out of favour for sure, but why? I don't really get it. Volatility is always good for the trading arm. I guess copper is a bit weak at the moment, but medium/long term future is very, very bright.

Good entry level, I think! I got in at 140 and have no intentions of getting out until 600+, just enjoying the decent dividends until then.

The Shell CEO seems to be more in line with most investors are calling our for...perhaps Shell could buy BP, thank you very much!!

A proper Texan oil man may be not so likely, but someone like the Shell CEO would do the job.

The 200 Million spend per year through the VC arm is peanuts and may yield new partnerships, which will be relevant for the future including green hydrogen. If such news caused the fall, that's just outright silly! Markets on the edge, I guess.

It's also good for BP's green image at very low cost.
