If we can have oil at $80-100, then BP will continue to do very well indeed. Big spikes due to conflict are not particularly helpful, as it inevitably will boomerang back at us later on!!

Said that the market is so negative and bearish that any small piece of negative news in a company update will be used by journalists and traders (incl algos) alike to see the price down (this was a general comment, not BP specific).

Wrt BP he also said:

"7. Oil giant BP PLC (BP) reports a sharp drop in profits year-over-year for the third quarter, sending shares roughly 4% lower in early trading Tuesday. Must they do a deal, too? There are only so many choices."

Yes, we need a deal! :-)

Last thing: most share holders here have expressed dissatisfaction with the board and the lack of CEO. How to influence things? Write to main/large investors? (who must have come to the same conclusion anyway, surely?) Write to investor relations? Thoughts welcome.

Re CNBC and others, they love loaded headlines like profits plummet. If you take a step back, BP overall doing well and making lots of cash, despite what analysts say and big market players always wanting to push prices up or down to gain millions.

Profit for the period attributable to bp shareholders is $4,858 bn for Q3. That's a big number whatever way you look at it.

We do need a new CEO though. The delay is a disgrace.

Delt will probably get one or more, BUT it will do nothing (or at least nothing sustainable) for the short term share price. Only monetisation news will. That's what I want for Xmas!!

Suggesting a causal link between investors hoping for good returns and what is happening in the Middle East is grotesque; as if we caused it. Greed? No, it's a business and we are getting paid for the risk to our money (up or down)

Oil companies sometimes benefit from unrest, wars etc., sometimes they don't (Covid, recessions).

I also support a free Palestine, but no connection to my investment here. And no, I am not hoping for a big war; it will backfire anyway as inflation will rise if oil gets too expensive => recession => lower demand. Zero sum game. Demand driven support for a decent oil price is way better!

The existing board appoints the new CEO, that's the problem. They will not make the right choice, they have already shown how incompetent they are. Ideally they should be removed first. Little we can do as small investors; I am surprised big investors are not all over this. It's blatantly obvious what needs to be done!!

Best outcome is a takeover by real grownups, but I am not super optimistic though.

If Labour takes over, they may well unwind some of this, of course, but existing licences will be safe leaving DELT with more than enough to work with.

The fish rots from its head!! Especially at BP.

So Looney's escapades were well known to the board and many BP staff, and already investigated. How can a board sleep through that without having a plan B in place. The usual City gravy train, where incompetence only gets revealed when you have to solve urgent problems.

Ideally, we see a takeover, the full board is then sacked and then hopefully run professionally. What a disgrace. Amazing there is not a shareholder revolt already.

Write the company! It's publicly available how to write.

Cookoo, put yourself out of your misery and sell. Put it down to experience and just stay out of high risk shares. It could drop a lot lower, so why not?

Or you could wait for real news. It's trading on nothing until then.

In my view anything which doesn't fall under their core competencies within liquids and gasses, essentially.

The only exception is probably things like EV charges at the petrol stations, as that fits with the existing infrastructure and delivery of energy to cars.

So energy/power from hydro, nuclear, wind, solar, tide etc NO. Green fuels including hydrogen, carbon capture, green chemicals etc YES.

Just my take. Others are better at the first list and different returns.

Shell will go from strength to strength like this, even with slightly lower energy prices, debt will come down etc etc.

We will hopefully all have exited and benefitted immensely from our investments in DELT way before this becomes an issue! If not, it just means the venture crashed and burned (unlikely, but possible).

The issue of the gas grid is 20+ years down the line, minimum, in my opinion.

My take: big players moving the market for their own gain (FCA toothless or don't care); widespread fearmongering that falling bond prices will impact banks as we saw with the regional banks in US earlier in the year.

For me BARC is as solid as it gets and M&A starting to see improvements. Will come good once rising yields on cash and bonds + inflation (genuinely) come down. US GBP super strong, yet seen as negative. Good for BARC.

We are probably slightly outside what will impact Delt in the next couple of decades...but a related topic regardless.

Presumably the gas pipes are made of iron and plastic (PE). I guess you could just leave them in the ground...the iron would corrode over time and the PE would just stay there (not really toxic), but that may be controversial. The infrastructure on land would need decommissioning though. I cannot see this happening in the next 2-3 decades.

In anutshell: unique IP with little competition, technology ripe for exploitation, a credible team and strategy, including renewed commercial focus/approach and new focus areas, like diabetes and neuroscience. Potentially a lot more value to be realised. They can actually potentially do a hell of a lot more than I thought, having originally bought in due to EarlyCDT only.

Now we need solid financial progress going forward. Past financial performance leaves a lot to be desired, but that's also why the share price is so low. They will also be looking to create more stable, recurring income streams, which is good for stability and investor nerves in particular!!

Well yeah, but that's very public knowledge, also from the company. They need monetisation to pay 20-40 million for the next 2 drills, next year. It's rather simple, they need to monetise Pensacola and/or Selene.

It all makes perfect sense, but they need to deliver in the next few months, as I can only assume money needs to be spent on drill preps soon! Will get a bit of credit via Shell no doubt, but money needs to be handed over in due course.

I am still confident, but would like to hear news sooner rather than later. This is just really boring as it is!!
