I think some are getting away from the facts. The workers havent been paid and they should be. Personally I wouldnt care who puts there hand in there pocket to get them paid frr or the gg but payment is needed.
In the oil industry when a company moves in such as frr an agreement is made between them and government to employ local people from the local vicinity, this is common practice worldwide. Local villages where pipelines are going through will supply drivers labours etc. Most of the initial setup work and engineering is conducted by specialist contractors.
The right of way for the pipeline going through or around villages is negotiated and thats when local people are employed, age is not so much a factor. Relationship between the operator and the surrounding area is important, thus frr giving health scans, employing local peopl all part of the relationship.
(Going off subject, the only american company/s I had seen seen shut down there was the franchised companys dunkin donuts , and subway) that may bring some comments.
Im in this as deep as anyone else and hope its resolved amicably.
