Afternoon Nettles. I would agree that Jacqui Smith is a decent constituency MP, however I do expect leaders of our Country to have a grasp of where we are going as an economy or society WRT data and AI. I console myself that behind the scenes some really smart people are cracking on with the 'silent energy revolution'. I reckon HMG will award contracts to RR as predicted, whilst keeping all other parties onside some how. Lets see.

I guess you're right Buster. I reckon a 10% year on year cut in clean energy to reach 50% by 2030 and prop up an ailing economy and or bankruptcy of sterling.

Quite complex economically to compare the two engines. In a large fleet of long haul twin jets you'd ideally have a RR 3 spool engine on the longest of sectors and a Pratt or GE twin spool on the short sectors as the twin spool design weighs much less, purchase/lease costs and reliability aside. The reason RR are in such a niche market is because their is no competition on certain type/ route combo's. The article you refer to Berny certainly shows average sector lengths, so I reckon this a lot to do the economy issue.

Global supply chains were RR's biggest operational issue. The outgoing Presidents ramping up of the war effort will further erode confidence to improve these any time soon. Hold on tight for a while. Still confident of £7 by Feb, but 2026 now I would think.

Good post Cheesecake. Listening to LBC today a conversation took place about household energy debt in the UK standing at 3.7 billion. According to the citizens advice bureau it's the area of debt that takes up most of their time now. We all have opinions about domestic and commercial energy costs in the UK, but whatever they are this is coming home to roost. Politically whoever is at the helm will have to have a plan, and action it very soon. Let's hope it suits us as shareholders and the poor sods who are being impoverished by it. SMR will happen for sure.

The reality is dawning that the budget has curtailed any growth in the economy, but it was also anti aspirational. The uk will eventually thrive in certain areas despite government, like Italy. RR will be one of those areas I’m sure. An ultra fan for the narrow body market and eventually SMR contracts will be reality in the fullness of time. Defence spending will go in direction of travel as we are all aware. So 70-100 bn Mcap over the next few years is a reality. Patience is needed especially on days like these. Keep those peckers up boys and girls.

I'll do the same with others should the need arise. Some really diverse and good opinions on this forum so I dont intend to have it spoilt by a few.

A good listen indeed Trello. Operationally i've had good bosses, it seems to go wrong the nearer you get to the top in many cases. The thing Tufan possess in abundance is emotional intelligence, and that's why it's going so well at RR I believe. He seems to understand the business, it's strengths, weaknesses, the workforce needs and concerns, the customers needs, strengths and weaknesses. He will IMO take RR to 100B Mcap company within a few years, and leave it on a sound footing culturally for the next few decades.

I think we're on the same page Edward, along with many others. Labour have to make this borrowing/ investment pay now to create growth, something no one has done for decades. I worry they are not up to it, along with most of our political class and will continue talking about the inherited 22b black hole.

Certainly looking that way Edward. Still I'm probably naively hoping that the UK commit a few few billion to RR, effectively giving us first mover advantage. No one knows the eventual outcome but it's not looking as optimistic as It did 12 months ago. RR will still thrive whatever happens IMO. Maybe a listing outside of the FTSE will be a curved ball in the coming months/years, who knows.

I'll give the new administration the benefit of the doubt. I can only be hopeful that GB energy are intent on implementing SMR's in order to reduce energy cost etc etc. The lethargy and bureaucratic system we have in place at Whitehall has been there for decades, hampering everything we do whilst providing plenty of 'yes minister' opportunities for career advancement and personal gain . We can only hope that a new administration is determined to get this through. Exasperating though, and infuriating that we can't run the UK like a successful private business. WRT RR, nothing has changed IMO. As a Brit I would like to see the UK gain first mover advantage regarding RR SMR, maybe that won't happen. Most great things to come out of the UK have happened despite Government of recent years.

We know SMR is happening. One or two finalists expected to be announced by the end of 2024.
