H4R - as always, I hope your right. I’m definitely keeping expectations low, though. Then I won’t suffer again like we all did in February!

Mani, what did I say wrong?

I said if we don’t get materially good news, i.e, trial, JV, TO etc then it’s very grim, possibly terminal for Synairgen. At least that’s how I see it… call it self expectation management.
But I have been clear that I am positive and think we do have a future. Hence topping up.

H4R - private equity are brutal and won't pay anywhere near fair value! Let's hope it doesn't get to that stage.

If on Thursday the cash position is unexpectedly less than what we/the market expect, then the SP probably will fall to 16p or less. But it's irrelevant. We know the cash is ultimately burning down and we need something like a trial, JV, TO within the next 12 months, otherwise it could very well be curtains and 0p.

Those invested here should believe (or at least hope!) that one of the above happens. If you don't, then surely sell now?

Fruitsnveg- very good point about how they could have waited a few days and not left themselves open to scrutiny.

The interim results/update are usually quite detailed with plenty of meat on the bones. I wouldn’t be surprised if this new role got a mention.

Mani - that’s a big leap. We don’t know anything for sure yet. And my concern is that I was very confident pre sprinter disaster, partly because of all the recruitment. So I’m wary about getting caught out again!

From the headline of the job description:

“responsible for the management of operational quality assurance relating to the manufacture, packing and distribution of Investigational Medicinal Products for use in Synairgen clinical trials…”

I mean, if you’re applying for this role you’d be asking for more information on said trials. If you’re Synairgen, you can’t reply “erm, well, we don’t actually have any trials, but here’s to hoping!”

If this does turn out to be Synairgen effectively assuming again, as they did pre sprinter, then I’d be asking questions of the management teams judgement.

I’m positive, so hope we do indeed have something in the offing here.

You would think so. And after making the mistake of going on such a comprehensive hiring spree just before the sprinter failure, you would imagine they'd want to be doubly sure something is a goer before hiring for such roles again. For a start, any potential applicants would surely want some reassurances, because if we don't get on a PT or a JV, or something materially good for Synairgen, then even the most bullish amongst us would struggle to see how we can keep hold of all these expensive hires.

I must admit, my first thought when reading the job description was that surely we have enough expertise in the company already for someone or a combination to take on some of these duties… Richard Francis perhaps, who is a manufacturing and commercialisation wiz kid, two words mentioned in this job description. I can’t imagine he is too busy right now. Of course, the above is based on what we know right now. There might be some news due which means we need additional resource. Seems strange if not, given our current predicament and ultimately limited funds. Again, based on the current state of play.

The pound taking a real kicking today, after what has already been a difficult year for it. It means any large US pharma cos can now pick us up even more cheaply… ;)

Joking aside, I don’t see Synairgen selling out on the cheap. Any low ball offer needs 90% of shareholders to agree to it. I don’t see the BOD selling their shares on the cheap and they’d probably need to be onboard. The way I’m topping up, I’ll probably be able to veto any derisory offer myself :D

My hope? A PT trial (or two!) followed by a helping hand to make sure we don’t see a repeat of the sprinter failure. Then maybe a takeover down the line at all time highs +.

Alkin - stop being impatient. They changed it to summer. There’s plenty of time left yet… summer doesn’t end until tomorrow!

Important to remember that the NIHR sponsor trials such as RECOVERY, and here we have one of their professors and senior investigators saying our drug merits further investigation. Andybe4 won’t dampen my spirits this evening :)

MrC - 361 patients, not small but not huge either.

Baby steps for Synairgen now. We just need to keep churning out the positive news, no matter how big or small, and hope we get on a platform trial.

I think DocD and others have taken the words right out of my mouth.

But of interest, do I fall into this bracket then?

We’ll get the latest financial update very soon but when you discount what cash is left on the balance sheet, Synairgen is being valued by the market right now at approximately 15p per share or £30m.

Now consider that Johnson & Johnson, who have been in the Synairgen news reel recently, make £48m after taxes EVERY DAY, it is hard to believe large pharma won’t be looking at drugs like Synairgen and taking educated punts on some of them.

The case builds and builds. Astonished the SP has barely budged but surely this will put us right towards the front of a queue for a PT and, IMO, for a JV or TO.

Aether, I’m starting to wonder if you are also a troll. You ask on an almost daily basis what the Synairgen SP would be based on different hypothetical scenarios. No one can possibly know. We can hazard a guess, mostly that the SP would be significantly higher than where it is now. That’s about it.

Ghia, perhaps. Unfortunately, I’ve always been a terrible short term trader. I could do everyone a favour really… all I’ve got to do is sell my shares and the day after large pharma will come in for a £5 per share bid :D
