RE: Weekly forecasts20 Feb 2023 14:06
I remember in my younger years a manager of mine giving all of the team monthly 1-2-1's. He was always strong but fair and wanted everyone to know what they had to do to achieve a good bonus at the end of the year. Because we were told regularly how we were performing, there were never any shocks if we got a poor bonus. It was our fault, we were told what needed to do, and didn't do it.
Another department in the business had a manager who wasn't a people person and regularly missed the monthly 1-2-1's for the team, deciding it was easier to bury his head in the sand and not have the difficult conversations. The turnover of staff in this department was significantly more than mine because everyone was pi55ed, bumbling along all year thinking they were god's gift, then getting told they weren't getting a pay rise or bonus.
Synairgen and RM remind me a bit of the manager in the second department. Sure, coming out now and saying there's nothing doing would crash the price. But had we had regular communications from the company over the past year, would the SP really be much worse than it is now, where we are valued at barely more than the cash we have on account?! Sure, those communications/updates might be the same old thing month after month (still working on finding a trial blah blah), but shareholders would be much more on the side of the company which if, god forbid, we end up needing some kind of cash raise, they will need.
And for those that say RM and co have more important things to do, well for £300k a year, I'd hope our CEO would be able to fit in a quick update to his bosses.
