of course it's good if someone continues with outpatient trials - and in the absence of Activ 2 - it'll be the place where the next batch of adjusted Mabs pitch up. My question was specifically about Paxlo - and unless it's a different dose I remain to be convinced there's any point in further outpatient trialing of it. 34m courses have been used all over the world.
Maybe there's a place for SNG here - but the conditions that stopped ACTIV 2 still prevail - with deaths 80% lower now than they were a year ago when Delta held dominion (7.5k daily deaths globally a year ago compared to 1.4k yesterday )

The Remdesevir inclusion here is odd. EUAd in and out of hospital and used in both settings. Of course being authorised does not mean Nice approves it - as Evusheld demonstrates - but as most of the deletions are for things we a;ready knew weren't being used because of Omicron, I can only conclude this is for the outpatient Remdes and not the inpatient version. Odd though as the article is about both settings, so I can't understand why thy wouldn't have clarified it. Maybe I've misread it but seems v unlikely NICE would advise against Remdes for inpatient groups.

On the Canada trial - even more bizarre. They're 2 and 1/2 years too late in starting this and it's just bonkers to retrial Paxlovid which has a strong EUA in Canada - and pretty much everywhere else from a very big outpatient trial in the US (even though its original data of 89% was cut in half in younger age groups in the summer )
How many patients are being assigned to Paxlo ? And can we assume it's the same dosage as already approved ? I can't see dosage but it was approved on the basis of 300 mg nirmatrelvir (two 150 mg tablets) and 100 mg ritonavir (one 100 mg tablet) taken together orally twice daily for 5 days.
Might make sense if they're tested a higher dose to counter rebound ?

The great positivity comes from the news that Southampton Uni are involved - but it's mad to be starting this up now unless they have specific outpatient candidates in mind. Personally still don't think we'd ever have a chance of an EUA for outpatients unless a completely new variant arrives - and can't really see the point of joining a new trial with similar protocols to Activ 2/3

The era of BA.5 is coming to a rapid end in the States. This piece - ostensibly about poor communication from health care providers and the immuno compromised (with 90% of ten hospitals contacted not informing patients that their Evusheld jab may not be protecting them now) but also showing the alarming spread of the so-called Scrabble variants.

A different subvariant, BA.5, is vulnerable to Evusheld. It accounted for 39% of all new infections in the US in the week ending November 5, according to the CDC.
But BA.5 is on its way out – and quickly. The week before, it accounted for 51% of all infections.

If anyone has up to date UK data on the Scrabble variants that would be useful - but clearly this will be focusing minds across the pond - and encouraging trial regulators to look for more potential therapies - and quickly. These most at risk cannot take Paxlovid either so there's almost nothing left for them.

Thinshins yes i did see that from cl and it was compelling. I'm not saying we're not taking someone on for a P3 trial - I'm just saying that it sounds more like Universal.
Synairgen already has a product that DOES protect people's lungs against Covid - and it's because Covid depletes the interferon response. They know this - we know this - half the world knows it.

It was just a thought - and whichever way this turns out it is a positive for SNG

Mani this ad doesn't say anything about SNG - or about the company - or about trialing any drugs. It's a reasonable supposition that it is for or via Synairgen or Soton Uni but as I said the wording is wrong for a trial.

I don't know about or care about Mrc's motivation. He was a high rolling t.osser before Feb 21st - and now he's a low rolling angry to.sser in the aftermath - but a huge number of Synairgen's investors were people who didn't know a huge anount about Covid - who really did frankly at that point - until after the amazing P2 results and maybe invested for the first time. They were all resposible for their choices and very few have come on here to cry foul - but they were fooled in the same way that the company itself was fooled and almost everyone on here was fooled - except for Dumbpunter actually ( who was genuinely supportive and then suddenly realised how close the P2 data was and how easily it might be compromised ) You might disagree and say he was always a bad actor but in my view he wasn't and he always posted on the science until the point where he started to gloat in the failure.
Anyway - the point is that everyone - science wallahs - market pros, redditistas, newbies, and even Synairgen had their pants pulled down by the topline from sprinter.
If you were in before P2 announced then you might only need a 200 or 300 % rise to get straight again but most of us are in much deeper than that.

They are at best deal makers and hopeful they can get back most of their investment or even turn a profit , but I'm sure they're hoping like we are that there is still a Covid play. Thye're not intersted in the add-ons unless the big free Covid trial fails to materialise

The clock is ticking. 13 weeks until the offer price drops to the best we've had since Sprinter's A bomb. But it's meaningless to discuss. We all still believe that there's something important here but If nothing has happened by Feb 21st then we'll probably all be grateful for the 28p - or whatever it will be - that enables a buyout. And more importantly there won't be any takers anyway. Pharmas don't mind wasting a few 100 million on prospects and if there's no interest now at 400m - it won't make any difference if the company can be had for £35m
That's the reality. If nothing happens in those 3 moths then we'll be asking for space in Ghia's bottom drawer. My worry is that we have another announcement like the Southampton Uni /Synairgen/Jannen collaboration. Something that has everyone on here jumping up and down but registers at 0.4 on the covid richter scale and adds nothing to the short or medium term prostects.
Quite simply SNG has to get onto Strive - or reveal its secret pharma lover, or unearth a white knight benefactor whose mum died of COPD.
