Jona35, try this: a Client indicated that they wanted to sell a large amount of stock. The Industry conducted a standard Industry trade to facilitate & make profit from the sold Long stock. During this process PI’s were locked out of the RFQ system. Upon trade completion on Wednesday this was reinstigated & the SP fell the day after….. If there is going to be Dilution it might be an idea to keep well clear. If the case, then probably the reason for the sale in the first place. If you’re a Trader knowledgeable & experienced at trading against Algo’s overseen by Industry trained Professionals, then place your bets.

Hi Sup, every time the US 10 year Treasury rises, 4.75% today, the US market drops. Highest since 2007. Some are predicting the US to enter Recession in Q1. US Debt issue extended for 47 days. Dow currently down 386. Russell small cap index, flat on the year. Opec meeting tomorrow. Interesting times ahead.

BigRisky, I note your comment on the ORCA bb. It's currently up 87% today & might be closed back up to 35 / 45p. Only the guys running the show know the brief. Currently there are many trades being closed off, in case Markets plummet.

There already is a ‘risk warning’ Shares can go up as well as down, even on the UK Stock Market. I reference the December 1999 FT100 peak at 6930, 23 years ago. Look where it is now. This must be a great marketing graph to ‘try’ to attract foreign investment. Currently there is very low Retail participation, I wonder why ?

Jetcrowts hi, fair comment. As for me I only Trade. I recall trading Barclays osculating between £3 & £3.60. Not the price now though which is why I don’t invest. The same could be said for Tullow when it was the darling of the Stock Market at around £14.

Professional Investors know it for what it is. As I have mentioned before the FT100 reached 6930 in Dec 1999. Look where it is now 23 years later & compare with other index’s around the World.

What has to occur to increase liquidity to service Client orders…..

Hi Anton, 66p can also be revisited in fact 80p is achievable providing folk buy at elevated prices problem is everyone wants to buy at the bottom.

Don’t worry the Industry moved the SP down to fill their Client orders. Although 22p could easily revisited be at the touch of a button, it’s unlikely for now. That’s not to say that it will never be revisited because it’s set up to do so.

Are TNCP, you know what those trade types are, which participants they are between & that they are non contributing to discovery. Ie don’t impact the SP.

Apeirogon, the fact that the inner workings of the Stock Market are kept secret & that the General Public have no understanding of or interest in, baffles me. Explanations are offered in books & on line but that’s not the way it actually works. I recently had the opportunity to ask a Psychologist about this aspect & his reply was that it was laziness.

Supercooper hi, I try to outline certain parts. In general the SP has little to do with the underlying Co as it’s price managed by the Industry for their benefit. If your DIY Investing throw a dart at a calendar, buy some stock & hope for the best. If your Trading then you will need to know a lot more. Some Trade from pattern recognition of graphs but the best way is to understand the mechanics that generate the graphs & the Industry system that’s operating in the background. Alternatively own stocks via pooled Unit Trust’s / ETFs etc which may improve the performance. If you have £100k+ a Hedge Fund might manage your Investment. Some offer 20% return per annum. DIY investing is at the sharp end & highly risky.

Patel hi, Stock Markets generate lots of profit for the Countries that house them. How they work is kept very secret. There is lots of Marketing & smoke / mirrors involved. Even people that appear to know don’t, unless they have been Industry in house trained in this specific area. Posters on these Retail boards are only doing what’s expected of them & as they think is correct. If there was an instruction book, it would be very very different. In fact if people knew what they are trying to make money against I’m sure most wouldn’t even attempt trying.

The statement referring to the major holders is correct. There are two sets of PI’s. Those in the Professionally managed accounts, note I didn’t say Funds & those that are DIY Investing / Trading. Some of which post on this here bb.

Everyone participates in Shorts including all PI’s. It’s part of the way this works. Your just unaware of it. Folk are Retail Investing, which means no interest or knowledge of how the Stock Market works.

Hi again Geng, just noticed your previous discussion. My understanding is that only the ‘A’ trades are on book ie the LSE. All others are matched at off book Venues. Eg on the 1st June AMC was not trading on the LSE just Turquoise which is a lit / dark pool owned by the LSE & other off book Venues. There were no ‘A’ trades that day. The DMA trades are matched on & off book. Only a very few trades are by PI’s the rest on & ‘off book’ are Industry position adjustment & price management.

Hi Geng, again well dune making money off this. I’m sure your one of a very few that have achieved that. Issue for me is moving a large enough amount in & out to make it worth while. Illiquid = Volume & Spread risk.

You don’t buy these stocks to make money, you buy them to fund them. Which is the reason why they are listed.
