Marsal777. I am in the process of moving my I.S.A.s from interactive investor to scottish widows. I have had a few problems as they took over I web, but I think they are ok now. They charge nothing to hold in an I.S.A. & have a flat £5 dealing charge.

Thank you roofer, Vod looks like a no brainer to me at the moment, so fill your boots (into an I.S.A.) is my advice. My I.S.A.s are full so I will wait until April. I will go 107 for next Friday please roofer.

A fantastic run. Looking red hot! Get your shares into an I.S.A. or you will get clobbered. Divi tax, & cap gains. There are still some brokers who will hold shares in an I.S.A. for free. Not this site jarvis any more as they transferred me to Interactive Investor who will rip you off with sky high charges. I am transferring to Scottish Widows, formally I web who seem to be very good value. Thank you roofer for recommending I web.

Garonne. As my long term target price for vodafone is 1.50 + & I have bought a lot of vod shares over the last 2 years, your post makes no sense. I was simply pointing out that d/bank have always been very positive about vod shares & have got it very wrong in the past. Also your "the sp has responded slightly" comment does not make much sense, as not dead yet indicated. Vod is a strong buy for me but don't get so worked up if it falls on some days. Let's hope for 1.10 by trading update. Fantastic day today so far.

Garonne. Is that what you do with your life, just sit & watch paint dry? I bet you stick your finger in the paint to see if it's dry! If you think vod is under priced, just buy more vod shares, it's simple.

Hello not dead yet. On 13 Jan 83 million vod shares were sold, so the 5 million buy back that day is not that big. 50 million + sold a day is probably normal, but as you say that's what makes a market. A lot of it is auto trading.

GURUman. You effectively paid about £4 per share for 1625 shares so any cap loss is based on that. What happened after that though is very complex. If I were you I would forget it unless you made than £3000 in the current tax year.

GURUman. If you google vodafone share price google finance, in the motley fool article under the heading A fallen giant, it shows a chart showing the vod sp all time high as £3.42 on the 24/01/2000. Motley fool do get it wrong sometimes, but I don't think the sp has ever been £13. As for the vodafone faffing, you are right with all the complications over the years as you mentioned. I have owned vod shares since about 1999 & I know for a fact the sp was £3.99 on the 7/03.2099 which I think was roughly the peek. Good luck with H.M.R.C. Most of my shares are in I.S.S.A.'s so I don't need to get involved with them.

Fleccy. Thank you for your explanation. All I would like you to do is admit that if own shares in any company & the share price falls, that is a loss. If you sell the shares at a loss, but re invest the money at a profit, that does not mean you did not lose money on the original sale. If the vod shares you sold at a loss had not dropped in value you would be better off by selling at a higher price. It is very simple, if you own shares & the sp falls ,it is a loss, if the sp rises, it is a gain. Just common sense, but you have always insisted that if you don't sell, then the fall does not matter. Sorry mate but it is complete nonsense ,which you have proofed when you sold your vod shares at a loss. But good luck anyway with creative accounting!

Fleccy. I am losing money on vodafone shares, but if I sold all my vodafone shares today & then bought them all back again & then the share price went up by 10p, I would then be in profit on the shares that I now hold, but still losing on vod overall. Sounds like creative accounting to me. The most important thing when investing on the stock market, always be honest with yourself.

Hello rob. Like you I am retired. I am very happy with the vod divi about 3.7% as I also have very good pensions. There are shares that have a higher divi than vod, but surely buying shares just for a high divi is not a good idea. Many bought vod shares for the high divi when the divi was much higher than it is now but vod but could not afford it, so had to reduce.. L&G pay a high divi but can they afford to keep that up? I don't know? Do you?. I think the general opinion is vod can afford to gradually increase its divi. Don't forget the divi will always come out of the share price on ex divi day. One thing I wish I had done is sold all my vod shares many years ago, & put the lot into Rolls Royce when they were under a £1... Good luck with L&G though, but I will give them a miss.... Hello Roofer. Fantastic run for the vod sp lately. Apart from the fall on Friday. I have bought a lot of shares over the the last year or so from 67p upwards ,so doing very well on those. Anybody who has been on this forum for many years though knows I am still losing money. I need about 1.20 before I am in profit excluding divl's. I am very happy though as I have for a long time now accepted my previous losses, so I am very glad to have made back much of this & I think I will end up in profit eventually. I get about £13000 a year in divi's almost all in I.S.A.s, so tax free.

So lets all just have a go at the negative crooked brokers, Groan, you are on another planet. But of course I being on this planet hope the vod sp will increase. Garonne, Why don't you just buy vod shares when they are obviously under priced , instead of just moaning all the time. Just get a life otherwise you always be a poor moaning idiot.
