Notdeadyet. I think you will find that most day traders don't make anything like £3000 a year, so very little chance of paying cap gains tax. As you said most day traders lose money. The biggest tax problem in the U.K. is stamp duty, & Divi tax, so always buy into an I.S.A. to save divi tax. Many brokers don't charge extra for an I.S.A. About 6 years ago the cap gain limit was £12.600 & there was no divi tax. so wasn't worth worrying about an I.S.A. but fortunately I moved most of my vod shares when the Divi tax came in into an I.S.A which cost quite a lot, but I saved far more.
