Harleygreen. You are right in saying buybacks are fine if they are cancelled. But vod is obliged to hold some shares in treasury for various reasons. Paying for share options for example which are very important in any company the size of vod. The more they cancel the better though ,& I am led to believe most of the shares being bought back(if not all) are going to be cancelled. Have a good one.

Hello notdeadyet. I gather you think vod should invest it's spare cash in growth instead of buy backs, but vod has done that in the past (going on buying sprees) with disastrous results. Vod is buying back it's shares because it thinks they are undervalued. It may be right or wrong to do so, but the sp has done very well lately (apart from todays late fall). It is not black or white,(unless you are a genius with an I.Q. of 160 or a genius chess player) !? There are pro's & cons either way. Germany Maybe the key here for vods profits, but vod is already invested big time there. Have a good week.

As I come on here to learn, I gather that most on here don't agree with my stance on vod share buy backs. That is fine by me, but as long as I am making a serious amount of money lately on vod buying back it's shares at a big discount to their increased value, I am very happy. Laughing all the way to the bank. tars says there are pros & cons of buybacks & he is right, The pro's are if the sp rises after the buy back, & the cons are if it falls. Vod has to pay to buy back shares, so as boo says this is balanced out by an increase in earnings per share. If however vod is undervalued then the price vod pays to buy back the shares is less that there real worth, then that is a profit for vod. I.E. vod buy back shares & the sp rises good, vod buy back shares & the sp falls, bad. It is the same as if I buy vod shares & the sp rises good, but if the sp falls, bad.. Yes I know vod are cancelling the shares, but that balances it self out by increasing the earnings per share. Good luck to all vod shareholders.

Booboo. Of course the gain is cancelled out, a point I have made many times. But if the sp rises after the buy back, then that is a gain. This is all just basic common sense maths. What part of this don't you lot get? As for L.T.I. & his FFS. how many more times? What can I say? On another planet! Simple. vod buys back shares at £1 a share then cancel them. That will increase earnings per share. It the sp then increases to £1.10 per share. vod (me & you) have saved 10p per share on the buy back price, so we (vod shareholders) have made 10p per share. This is all so blindingly obvious, why don't you lot get it.

Colbee. I will explain it one more time. I am a vodafone shareholder. Vodafone shareholders own vodafone. Vodafone buys back shares. this increases earning per share, which if the buy backs are working well, increases the share price. It is not rocket science, just basic maths common sense. Of course buy backs don't always work, & increase the sp, but lately they seem to be doing so. Of course the the sp is controlled by the market, but the market is influenced by earnings per share as well as other factors. You need to go back to school & learn basic basic maths before trying to understand the complex stock market.

L.T.I. What are you talking about. I didn't say there was a new allocation of money, but obviously vod have to pay for the shares they are buying back. You seem to be on another planet. Calm down mate. Buybacks don't always work, but I think for vod they will. Everything to you seems to be black or white, you think you are always right. Stop being so pompous. Why have you sold some of your shares if you think the buybacks always work? You make no sense.

Thank you roofer. I wanted KiwiTwo, to win. Good to see you are not fazed by the anti prophecy mob. Early yesterday pm I was not a happy man, but what a recovery, so I am very happy now. Good to see the latest share buy back off to a great start. Just read the R.N.S. as opposed to L.T.I. just splitting hairs. O.k. so this is the last buy back of the 4 billion promised, but there may well be more to follow. The buy backs do seem to be working.

L.t.i. So have you not seen the R.N.S. 500 million euro Goldman Sachs share buy back to commence on 5th Feb 2026, & end no later than 11th May 2026. You can see it on this site under R.N.S. This is a new back, the previous one was with Merrill Lynch.

Vodafone has bought back 27 million shares for 108.5p each in the new goldman sachs buy back. At the now price of 111.45 that is a profit of 2.92p per share x 27 million = about £788.000. Not bad for 1 day. Keep up the good work.
