Well I have learnt something today, vodafone net tangible asset value according the site ADFN is only 26p , the rest of the nav is simply the value of the company name, reputation etc. So at least now I understand what LayLadyLay was on about. A bit worrying I think? What ever happened to the cash cow, that vod was once said to be, massive free cash flow etc. Is it all just down to debt? I once asked on this forum what %rate vod pays on its massive debts, but was told by many it didn't matter, surely that's no longer true. Does anybody know what the average % rate is?

L.L.L.! Thanks for that info. Now I understand!? Are you saying that the vod nav less intangibles (32cents)is lower than other companies with a nav of 208 & an sp of 108? otherwise it is a meaningless figure. Does vod have an unusually high intangible value, is that what you are saying? If the intangible value of vod is more than £1.78 (208p minus 32cents) then that means the real nav is higher than £2.08.

Thanks LayladyLay, but I was after an explanation... What are the intangible assets & what is IFRS. With all due respect, it would be nice if one could talk in plain English & not in abbreviation all the time!

Can anybody out there give a reliable net asset value please. £2 or 30p? big difference. Or is it just too complicated.. How do you work out N.A.V?

dustybin & Cheapsharesboy, I just hope you are both right. Interesting that most negative posts lately, are coming from those who just talk about turds & pieces of **** & ####### this & ####### that. Cheapshareboy. I had an i.s.a with ig index, but they started to charge to hold shares in an i.s.a. so i switched to this site, london south east, who have no charge to hold shares in an i.s.a. & dealing costs are 9.95 per deal. I am not sure when i got the divi though, friday or monday. I am planning to reinvest most of the divi in my wife's isa. Just hope i don't miss the boat? Divi re invesment.

j427. The sp has fallen because of the loss of roaming charges as there is less travel. That is not the fault of vodafone.

Pokerchips.. FCF. I was saying this a year or so ago, but so many insisted that free cash was all that mattered. It would be good if all those who said this ,would come back now & admit they were wrong. Still lets hope the divi is affordable from all sources in future. Hopefully the late recovery in sp today will continue.

electricinvestor. I heard retaining 80 to 90%, so perhaps I am missing even more than you. Having said that, I would have been happier if vod had much lower debt & not sell any. If it was on the L.S.E. then I think I would try to buy the mast shares, but not so sure about buying on the Frankfurt exchange.

130 plus 135 by Friday. Forget the divi, its the sp that counts. Come on, we all know this share is worth at least £1.60 to £2. oh sorry, ramping ??

Bag of chips. No wonder you have never made anything on this share if you load up just for the divi. The sp, even with the late rise today is still way below pre ex divi price. Never buy a share just for the divi. I think they are strong buy because I think they are under priced & the divi is good, if it is affordable. (If being the operative word).

Well the market seems happy with 2017, I guess a lot of the Huawei equipment may be obsolete by then anyway? , & if you have the choice of China, or the U.S. on your side, I would choose the U.S.any day ( even with an idiot as leader).
