My local M&B pub is empty19 Mar 2020 14:00
My local is an M&B carvery, which is usually full of obese fatties that gorge themselves and wash it down with an overpriced pint of Diet Coke - I have never understood that psychology. They reload their plates until they get to the Mr Creosote moment and then leave full plates, the waste is appalling.
We have a hardcore team of locals that meet for a drink most evenings and are treated with disdain by the staff, as we keep asking them to pour (rubbish, flat) pints for us, which is very inconvenient for them.
The last couple of nights there have been no diners, just the locals, and all of a sudden we are welcome.
The gorging hordes are probably all diabetic and deserve what's coming to them with Covid 19, so that will be a big saving to the NHS and Pension Funds, and free up plenty of housing and other resources, so it is probably a blessing in disguise.
I am sad to say that my local will probably close due to lack of business, and as a shareholder, I cannot see any other option in these dreadful times, the daily losses must be horrific.
If my local is representative of the rest of the Estate, we have bleak times ahead.
The sooner we all get it the better, and then we can get back to normal.
My local Authority is in the process of identifying fields that are suitable for mass burials, so that they can get the Compulsory Purchase process under way, there will be no alternative, the Crematorium is already at capacity.
The Government isn't telling the whole story by any means, but the truth will out - if we have 500,000 deaths in the next few months it will put a real strain on things.
Not good for share prices, but gas demand should remain strong.
