Minor thing but eve have pulled their new pillows off eBay today, the ones with tags and which were cheaper than the ones they sell on their eve sleep site. Conserving stock? They were £39 on eBay and cheaper if the order was for more than one.

Wyn, you're usually right on these things so I do hope you are being a bit too pessimistic this time, even though you wouldn't call it 'pessimism' yourself! If someone does fancy the brand they could pay now rather than wait for the administrators sale, just to make sure they are the one. The Sleep Away and the Which? awards are something worth having, and all the brand awareness created by previous marketing. Many people I know have heard of eve even if they chose another brand.

Eve was *on the verge of profits* so potential buyers might remember that, and know that the economic situation will improve eventually.

From a potential buyer's POV, it would be risky to wait for administration wouldn't it?

Perhaps CC has made the move in time for it to be worth a buyer moving now rather than wait for admin. While there is still cash etc.

Waiting for admin would void all the warranties (not great for eve's reputation with customers) we think but then there'd be a competition to buy from the administrator – perhaps – too.

I'm generally inclined to give CC the benefit of the doubt..

If eve were taken over shortly and the business was run from the DFS, Emma HQ or somewhere else's HQ, they wouldn't need CC, or TP, the office, the staff. Eve would almost immediately be profitable or close to it. We just need a couple of other outfits to think they'd like to add eve (the Which? accolades and the Sleep Away popular seller) to their business.

Otherwise I've lost more than I should have done..

Better to hear this today than have it leak out later and eve BOD look like they've held things back from us, is my guess.

Customers will worry about their 10 year guarantees now (more than before) so better to get this sorted quickly or there won't be the level of sales that there were last week let alone last year.
Maybe they are already lining something up, before today's announcement.

At least we know why Directors weren't buying now. If no one is interested then the price will be very low; if two bidders begin to think it's worth buying, very different prospects. Eve will make a loss for 2 yrs? 3 Years? OK, maybe 4, then should get the profit we were once expecting this year. I've waited longer than that.

There is value in eve sleep (Which? awards, and 'sleep away sells' almost in the fashion of a hot cake). How much value is yet to be revealed...

The 'choose size' + £100 or + £250 is a bit confusing till you scroll down on the DFS site.

I bet most people who buy a DFS Spindle frame also buy an eve mattress.

The best seller at Argos seems to be the Sleep Away mattress. Ratio of sales is 7 mattresses of any sort : 17 pillows : 26 Sleep Aways (counting from around May 6th)

Excellent re DFS. Can't be long before they have more of the range available.

Re pricing across all channels being the same, it's tricky. The 365 night trials are not available everywhere, and eve say they really would people buy directly from the eve site. Even our two local Sainsburys charge different amounts for the same thing at times as one is much larger than the other; the small one caters for people grabbing lunch while the bigger is for family shoppers.

DFS's profit margin must be the difference in price, and perhaps a bit more. So that's what CC meant when she said eve did well in negotiation with DFS as they – DFS – initiated the deal. So Eve probably still make almost their full profit when they supply DFS.
I wonder if DFS pay eve before they sell? Seems unlikely but you never know. The worse the current deal for DFS the more likely they'd be in buying eve outright, to improve things.

Alternatively, DFS advertise a high price now (while they don't have much stock) and then cut the price in a month to make sure the price cut is genuine, once they are really selling them. 'Marketing' for you.

Could be that they have more time on their hands for monitoring social media. And see that' it's worthwhile (a new broom joined?) so could also see a phone number return too if they are quiet and need to do everything possible.

We have just had two very poor months if you take TP as any kind of indicator (which I do) of sales from the evesleep.co.uk site. Of course, people buying elsewhere are probably not included

I'm guessing that anything above 1.6p was a 'buy', otherwise we'd be rather down rather than no-change.

My brother in law is rather tall (nearly 7 ft). They could make an 'XL' version of the Sleep Away without much trouble.

(Probably too tricky to but a blow-up layer inside the foam, and then it might puncture anyway.)

I am very pleased Sleep Away is in France and I hope it does as well there as here – apparently.

Dontgive, great spot on the sleep away reaching France :) Does France have an extra pillow too? I don't have time to study the photos but France has five pillows and UK, four.
