Query for people with detailed knowledge of the trial eligibility criteria, the neighbour who went on 6 month world trip instead of accepting chemo treatment for liver cancer just arrived home.

Not looking too bad; carried a case from the cab.

Could someone with liver cancer get one the AVA6k trial? I think mid 60's in age and never had chemo. Lives not-far from one of the trial sites.

He also needs a liver transplant.

Is there any point in me telling him he should apply?

AS said at least a 50% chance of success. From the data so far, 50% doesn't seem to be stretching reality.

Maybe there's another catch but;

SP is currently 109p to buy. Not that shares would be completely worthless if almost all fails but let's suppose you'd lose everything.

So a 50% chance of losing 109p, and a 50% chance of turning 109p into.. 500p? 1000p? Pick your own figure but, on the face of it, anything above 220p and it makes 'odds' sense to buy AVCT shares – if it's money you could afford to lose.

Donald, really, you reported that post of Wyn's? I've read it a few times and can't see on what grounds..

What would be wrong with 'fine tuning' if it saves people's lives despite an imperfect dosing level for the people at the start. What about the small number of people on P1A who might have already enjoyed extra months of life? Would they agree with Wyn or you do you suppose?

Will do Joe! They heard all about the presentation. One daughter was telling me her teacher has just returned to work after taking AVA6k but I told her that's not possible and it must have been other medicine. Teacher is relatively young too.

I suppose if I bought more shares then I could lower the cat target to .. £25?

No, I held on as the presentation sounded good to me and an extra year or more after all the waiting so far – if it pays off – wouldn't be a huge problem. As you know I do tend to hold rather than sell even if it's a mistake.

In fact I am wondering whether to put more in at the price now though I don't think I need to make a quick decision. I just don't see how it can go wrong from what they told us yesterday, though I am still underwater and the only benefit of buying in the last three years is that I know a lot more about the comp compared to someone who arrived in the last month.

Oh, and the pleasure of comms with the lovely folk on this BB :-)

I wonder if AS has decided to err on the side of caution after the LFT ("we'll sell all we can make") experience. He obviously wants to tell it as it is now, but he went out of his way to push the peak sales' date into the distance. I don't believe he meant 7 years literally; it was just a 'not now, not soon either' steer.

People often say 'don't invest more than you can comfortably afford to lose' in a company. If one is prepared to wait a while is AVCT a 'can't lose' company now?

I do wish the questions had all been delivered as quickly as the fastest ones. Couldl've had another couple answered though important ones were indeed answered. Was a good response when asked why not running P1a and P1b simultaneously.

At the back of my mind, having been a LTH for 3 years, is a question of whether there's any point in giving money to Cancer Research UK when the treatments seem much more likely to come from commercial companies such as AVCT. I searched 'Cancer UK achievements' and found something that pertains to the placebo chat that took place (and which was mentioned this am again).

'People with mesothelioma are usually treated with chemotherapy, surgery or radiotherapy. But options start to become limited once people stop responding to their treatment. Something the team were keen to change.

The CONFIRM trial involved 332 people with mesothelioma from across the UK whose tumours were still growing despite being treated with standard chemotherapy and could not be removed with surgery. Two thirds were randomised to take nivolumab once every fortnight, with the rest receiving a dummy drug.

People taking nivolumab lived on average for 9.2 months, compared to 6.6 months for those in the placebo group.'

Which rather implies that placebos ARE used in cancer therapy trials where there is a SOC but where it fails to work or stops working. This is contrary (unless I'm mistaken; I kept out of the debate as I knew nothing) to what several wrote here.

Not saying for a moment that this has any bearing on AVCT but just shows that people who raise such questions might not necessarily be doing so as they are shorting AVCT or whatever.

And it does look as though giving to Cancer Research UK is worthwhile, and something worth remembering when you all multi-bag.

If as safe as it looks to be then AVA6k (a short course of it) could be the next Statin, prescribed each year to over 50's, those with a bit of a risky profile. Cheaper than screening and several cancers targeted.

I was criticised for suggesting this a while ago but it seems a bit more feasible where we are now, and a high MTD would help justify low doses to many (apparently) healthy people.

At the very real risk of repeating myself I can't imagine there are many new treatments that work best so long as one didn't have the old treatment. Must be a spur to the regulators.

They (whoever *they* are) better pull their finger out and get AVA6K approved. Otherwise, well researched cancer patients might begin to refuse straight dox treatment so as to not become dox resistant for when AVA6K IS available as a treatment.

It's the thin end of the wedge but even now people are ineligible for the trial due to their previous exposure to dox / anthracyclines.

Should be plenty enough to talk about at the AGM for sure now, despite '...and no new material information will be provided.
