RE: Commentary 29 Apr 2023 17:34
This is from the Times today:
“Ministers have been urged by MPs, economists and motoring groups to rethink plans to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2030.”

Re: DU & Others,
Dick has demonstrated why NEO and SERICA might go NEGATIVE in FID.
But then surely JOG ( DU is positive) will be liberated from their Farm Out agreements ( surely- basic competent legal advice in the first place for the original Farm Outs) and JOG can seek other partners.
This weeks IC has an article on the North Sea regulator and emissions and possible easing ( JOG is already ahead of all
this debate).
However the article concludes :
" Despite regulatory uncertainty due to this years election and the energy profits levy extension , ITHACA and ENI are exploring a deal that would see the Italian energy giant swap its North Sea assets for a 39% stake in ITHACA.
This would further increase ITHACA'S EXPOSURE to North Sea at a time when others are looking elsewhere for growth "
So if ITHACA are positive , maybe they or others might fancy a tie up if NEO and SERICA get cold feet.
Hello Dick,
Thank you for those 2 links - quite absorbing stuff, particularly as 1 leads into an evidence based debate between opposing scientists.
Thank you again for your views Dick.
Liam Halligan ( a great guy) and you just confirm my view as a recently ( but coming on for a very long time)
ex-Conservative Party member, that the Tory Party is now a Centre-Left Party.
Re: onthe6 - " Dividends after 78% tax. How much would that be? "
If Neo/Jog/Serica think there will be sufficient profit at 78% tax to go ahead with the development, there will be sufficient profit to pay good dividends - and I dont think neo and Serica have come this far to be deterred by another 3%tax, and I think the latest Zeus note says it doesn't have a big impact on anticipated net revenue
Cyril 2 - " ...for what it's worth, here's mine. To the original question you bet it's worth 7 quid - "
I agree - let those want to get out at £2- go and dont worry about huge SP fluctations - those that would grab at £4- goodbye, you've been nice travelling companions
If no takeover - Oil will flow - big dividends will paid - and then there will be takeover bids
Onthe6: " Of course I pray that the £7 talk will come to pass and I can dine with Einstein. 699 actually. Enjoy your day all."
Prayer as an investment strategy - could put IC and lots of others out of business - and cheaper than a Wealth Manager.
Its interesting that Zeus put out a Note when there was no " Event " to justify it - they clearly thought an SP so far below their evaluation needed a comment.
Is it too much to hope that others ( e.g. Simon Thompson of IC) who have made similar SP predictions will feel a need to comment on the low SP? - it might ignite a big rally.
We haven't heard from any of those technical chartists for a while - I wonder what the runes say for them right now ?
Milario - " This time yeaterday it was down at 1.45 and 24hrs later its back up at 1.61 on the back of what!?!? "
Its got to be Zeus blowing away some of the irrationality . Their measured discussion and thoughts about future EPL and and a Labour government would have been helpful.
Disagree with you Buchanan 101 about the current Tory Party - the political beliefs of at least 1/3 of Tory MPs are to the left of Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. At least 2/3 of current Tory MPs would happily serve under Blair or Gordon Brown.
The number of Tory MPs that hold what might be called ' traditional Tory political convictions' is low, maybe 15% of them. The idea the Party is turning right is for the birds - Tory voters know that and are deserting.
The idea the Tory Party
Re - DonkeyOatey - as regards Labour and things getting worse - I tend to agree with Nigel Farage when he says - ' How much worse can it get' ? '
Tories worst actions ( where to start ?) - making a Labour government certain has got to be included.
I resigned from Tory Party some months back and am not a member of any Party now
I think the Conservatives deserve permanent decimation and to be replaced by Reform as an authentic Centre-Right Party.
MPO818 - " - post the election Labour will cheerfully enhance these benefits, it is in their DNA."
So would the Tories who have reigned over this state of affairs, not to mention the general disastrous state of the Country.
There is a statistical definition of 'Poverty' used by UK government that compares a poorer group relative to the
standard of life' achieved by someone on average income.
That means that it is almost impossible to eradicate 'Poverty'.
Its a bit like saying everyone should have an income above the average.
Did the SP not drop in the run up to previous milestones success announcement or am I imagining it ?
If they did, then its not beyond the realms of possibility that professionals are selling to depress the SP and get small holders to lose heart and get out while the pros pick up still very promising shares at knock down prices.
Alsoppc - thank you for that link - what has happened here ? - and who was JOG Laren ?
Re:alsoppc - "Is it not just more simply Neo I assume won't be paying a dividend to Buchan shareholdeds from day 1 of oil coming up so it's still minimum 2, maybe 2.5 years, until Jog start to receive a proper revenue stream "
I need some education here Alsoppc - Wont JOG get 20% of the actual revenue from Day 1 to distribute or not how it pleases - what has that to do with whether NEO chooses to pay a dividend >
Same article on Bloomberg is not behind a pay wall.
I can't think of a reason ( nor is there any suggestion) why NEO would want to pull out of the JOG deal just because NEO's current owners might want to sell them - the whole JOG/NEO/Serica enterprise still makes very good business sense.
From Bllomberg: " Norwegian private equity firm HitecVision is weighing options for UK oil and gas producer NEO Energy, including a potential sale, according to people with knowledge of the matter.
HitecVision is working with advisers as it studies strategic alternatives for NEO Energy, which could also include merging it with another operator, the people said, asking not to be identified because the information is private.
HitecVision declined to comment. NEO Energy didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment."
MAYBE thats - merge with JOG !!!
I'm happy with your 17 quid estimate Einbert - no need to convince me - I'm happy to trust your calculations
Disappointing MPO818 but this has been the pattern after every 'milestone' so far, but the past is no indicator to the future in a situation like JOG.
And its not only been pundits who have said £6/7 is a fair value SP, but more significantly the JOG CEO has publicly said it.
