My view is, that that would need addressing before any change of ownership is permitted.

On my reading mine closure plans are things in action, developing and changing under the stewardship of the operator. So without arguing the point, I would put it another way. That the operator, a new one, will have the responsibility of persuading the regulator that it is in a position to fulfil its environmental responsibilities at end of life of mine. However that might be achieved according to regulations.

I don’t know, but cannot see Newmont carrying closure costs on its books for all its divestments, no longer under it’s control, but costs that may form part of negotiation around price.

Whatever one thinks of Mr. Day, the Newmont organisation been around long enough to have the measure of any negotiation. So I don’t think it unfair to say one can’t expect ‘miraculous’ outcomes from him personally.

That’s said as a Newmont investor. And as such, I would simply expect Newmont to raise its 2bn or so. And take whatever steps it views as appropriate to achieve that objective.

Nothing more or less than anticipated I guess. Bigger ticket items still proving a challenge for consumers. It’s the economy, rather than anything else. Wickes continues to invest in future prospects.

On Newmont shareholder expectations, the only hurdle Mr. Palmer set himself was 2bn. overall.

Within that, I don’t think most would have individual aspirations.

Who’s expectations? I doubt anyone other than insiders have the foggiest idea or preconception on Telfer, though some on here and I think Mr. Day have put zero on it in the past. It’s certainly worth ‘something’ to Ggp and any other Hav partner. And to Newmont, in their desire to sell a currently derisked project. Without it, the Hav project is not derisked, as mentioned at the tail end of each RNS.

Valuations on Hav swing wildly on here. I doubt much more can be made of it until a DFS arrives, for the banks satisfaction at least.
