We were almost in single figure deaths last August without a vaccine.
Until the students went back to uni.
Now we will have the over 80's vaccinated by end Feb and over 70's by March AT LEAST, deaths from Covid will be zero or almost zero by April.
The clamour to get the western economy open from business leaders and the populous will be unprecedented.
I'm glad I'm in this now.

I think (using his own words here) he's taking a BB holiday.

We've all been here, fighting the good fight right into teens/twenties.
First sign of flak and he's never to to be seen again.

I've been off here with any interest for a while so proper catching up this eve and weirdly, I'll agree with Indepth on the video game thing. Ish.
Cinema WILL survive as it always has.
Big screen.
Big sound
Social and shared experience.
That will never change.
It's actually traditional TV that's under threat from video games.
The percentage of people who no longer watch broadcast TV is growing.
Video games offer a level of immersion that TV can't compete with.
I can actually see a future where Cinema thrives for the social story telling alongside video games for the personal.

I've said this before but you do know that the majority of people live in flats, semi-detached or terraced housing?
Good luck with your surround system unless you enjoy confrontation with the neighbors and wasting money.
The only people who can afford dedicated home cinema set ups in nice detached houses are the wealthy and retired.
Not exactly Cine's target audience.

Flu was just as 'deadly' as Covid until we got a (gasp) 50% effective vaccine for it.
And just like C-19, flu is only a big issue for the elderly and people with pre-existing conditions.
The C-19 vaccines are twice as effective as standard flu jabs.
It's game over for C-19.
I can't believe (well actually, I can) that he's using that as an argument.
He needs to stop sniffing fumes on these night shifts at the petrol station.

I have no idea how we all survived all these years with a flu vaccine that's 50% effective.

In fact to continue the footballing analogy, the streamers are akin to a Premier League team allowed to play while everyone else is banned, yet still can't get the ball in an empty net.
To use old skool commentator parlance, they couldn't score in a brothel.
Why?
Because nobody wants to pay to see a watered down experience unless it's free or near free.
Cinema, like live football will be back in full swing and better supported than ever once they can open properly again.

When Cinemas open properly again, people will go.
It's as simple as that.
Streaming can't even get a decent foothold with cinemas closed for the best part of a year.
Game over.

For the same reason fans will return to football.
Return to pubs and bars.
Return to restaurants.
It's A) social.
B) Can't be recreated to the same standard at home.
The advocates for streaming always throw out that it's better at home on a 65 inch TV with no chavs.
But they forget that most people in the UK live in a semi detached or terraced housing or a flat.
Good luck trying to get the surround sound going cinema style unless you enjoy fighting with the neighbors.
The only ones who can come close and own detached houses with decent screens and sound are mostly older, wealthy, retired and not the target market.
Even then you have no chance getting the wife/girlfriend kids to get off the phone and pay attention.
The sad sack delusional vision of nobody leaving the house ever again and living in isolation is just a dream.
Vaccines are here.
Cine will survive.
There will be no 20p.
No bankruptcy.
People will return to the streets.
There will be no more 'new' normal.
And streaming will still be just for takeaway night.
