From memory, the timetable for Brockham was reasonably 'generous' according to the experts, but they kept on schedule right up until the end.
Plenty of marks to judge progress by, and hopefully all will go to plan and on schedule.

I thought an earlier IQ stated first gas would be after a typical commissioning period, no indication of how long this would be for SF, so this may be early 2021?

The SP performance for the past few months has been fairly odd tbh. I thought it would stabilise once the deal was confirmed around the 250-260 level before increasing as markets in general continued to recover.
Not sure the half-year results announcement has been that well received.
The connection with the Merian deal could be that it meant the removal of the 'special dividend' at year end which many investors perhaps now see as a less attractive proposition, but that should have already been priced in.

HL seem to have been raking in the money from investors during lockdown, but not so much here with net outflows and a big reduction in AUM, despite performance seemingly still being decent. More attractive options in this sector could be the answer for the languishing SP?

The deal was approved by shareholders on 29 June and completed on 1 July.
There is a 1 July RNS to confirm.

Even if the SP does not rise pre-Ex-Div date next week, you are suggesting a drop of around 2.5 times the dividend amount from the current SP level.
Interested in your thoughts as to why you see this as a potential occurence?

And for those disappointed with this new direction (although I feel it has been around for a while already) and still want pure oil plays, as Maverick7 said on a different thread, there will plenty of smaller companies looking to take over assets deemed 'uncommercial' for the majors as a result of their higher costs, who will be in a position to operate them at much lower costs and still be profitable.
BP has growth opportunities though diversification into alternative areas, and small/medium sized oilers have growth opportunities too through picking up some of these assets, its just about picking the right ones.
There is still plenty of space to succeed in this sector as well as JV's and takeovers to accumulate profits on investment in the right company.
Still see BP as a good long term investment as part of my own portfolio for the reasons HP noted

Per the IQ (29/6), connection works were expected in August following planning approval and to be finalised in September.
The detail in the timetable will be interesting to see if there is any 'drift' in previous expectations, and any potential hurdles still to be jumped.

Saw this posted somewhere earleir.
Have seen various posts on the French action, they are certainly testing water (sewage) to identify potential hotspots, and they are offering reimbursement of testing costs to individuals (dependent on test type at present, possibly), but hard to find any more info on who are doing the tests and exactly the type of test in play.
There are certainly plenty of opportunities and 'space' within the worldwide market for sure, but some avenues will most likely be closed off for political reasons.
Expecting plenty of news/updates over the weekend and a good week ahead next week.

Good news, but for me, not really expecting anything significant on the SP for this as it was pretty much a given.

Just as baffling is the low volume seen today. Surprising on the back of some more good news here.
Maybe that is why the SP has not moved higher?
Looks like SP finishing down on the week despite 2 positive updates and some good media coverage.

Lots of shares turning blue on news from U.S. re: jobs being better than expected and the market opening up as a result

If 0.84p is deramping, then I am sure there are many investors here that will be more than happy at 'only' a 3 bag from here, some of those who loudly proclaim otherwise included.

I would hope it would be more likely that it would only stay around the 220p-230p level for the next 2-3 months as various potential vaccine solutions, or further vaccine news expected on various fronts (some already announced) in this timeframe.
I can see this being back around 250p certainly before the full year results, and potentially before year end with news of an important breakthrough either on the vaccine front, or mass testing solutions to help spot/prevent further outbreaks.
The spectre of a potential 2nd wave could change everything though.

Think this did well to hold above 300p yesterday.
The market in general seemed positive to the results, but the wider mainstream media were happy enough to splash their typically sensationalist headlines to point all the bad, but with a small footnote about the divi yield still being enticing for investors.
Expecrted a drift back under 300p today and now the news is all out in the open, feel this will most likely settle in a range around this level in the short term, following poo and exchange rate movements until any additional news lands.

Will our quicker test also have an impact in the fight against 'stupid'?

Could be wrong, but I believe that BP has fulfilled the required criteria for many Fund Managers to qualify for their ethical/green fund investment funds for several years now, so nothing really new
