To fulfil anything like that we would have to have signed several deals. As it stands SNG are scaling up to 100k treatments so half a billion is some way off.

For reference the purpose of doing the trial in 20 countries is to test on a diverse range of people and within different healthcare systems.

That should remove any bias from testing within the NHS only. This would eventually allow for worldwide use.

Cripz - it says phase 3 is 900 patients. Which it is but is over 20 countries. It doesn't say all of those 900 are in the UK, only that the UK aspect is over 20 NHS sites.

I am supposed to be doing work so can't dig out the appropriate part of the RNS. For those that recall though it was quite clear our phase 3 is a study of 900 patients across 20 countries. It was designed in collaboration with the FDA.

As part of that phase 3 it seems we are doing something in collaboration with the NIHR across 20 hospital sites in the UK. How many patients this involves is purely guesswork at this stage

Hang on , I asked this question a few days back. As was pointed out then, the RNS a while back mentioned the 20 countries and the information in the NIHR article specifically calls out this is an international study.

- The respiratory drug, developed by UK biotech firm Synairgen, will now move into an international phase 3 trial which has been badged as an urgent public health research study by the Department of Health and Social Care. The trial will now be prioritised for set-up and delivery across the NHS by the NIHR Clinical Research Network over the coming months.

There is work being done in 20 NHS sites in the UK but our phase 3 is still an international study as described in the RNS.

I think going from where we are now to a value of £2-5bn is very optimistic.

One of the big questions about the vaccine is around the percentage of people who were positive but didn't show any symptoms.

The results from city wide testing in Liverpool just now suggests around 0.7% of those tested were asymptomatic.

Assuming the numbers were similar in both of the vaccine trials then the level of efficacy may not decrease much from what is being reported.
