Cong, if Russia holds any Western Assets, in the event of a war, then Russian Assets held in the West could be used to compensate the likes of BP, etc. !! And there are more Russian Assets outside Russia, eg UK Properties, Western Bank A/Cs, etc. ., than Western Assets in Russia and connected parties !!

TSR of Divs + Capital Gains - Capital Losses, all After Tax, is the relevant figure to assess one's performance. The After Tax bit differs for many because some may have b/f Cap Losses and, therefore, the Gross Cap Gain is of more relevance. A Great Week anyhow at long last as the ESG brigade finally smell the coffee or, in this case, the rich BATS tobacco smoke !!

Good Luck bertram, LGEN is very solid anyway with a good div. I'm also in BATS and they've just announced super results and have near best divs. However, you may be into ESG investing ? I gave that up and also have BP, RDSB and IMB. Why not follow the successes ?!!

Sorry Bertram, no idea !! That's why I split, £27k in my case, into a few orders to try to spread the risk !! First Buy at 280.83p, setting Second for 275.5p, etc...but might get impatient and buy earlier after cancelling my limit order. I would hope for 310p minimum by 2022 close and there's also the good div. But DYOR and just my opinion !!

Back in for tranche1 at 280.83p, a bit early but I'd sold fully at 290p 2 wks ago. Setting another Buy Order for 275.5p for Tranche2 and may buy before then depending on markets. LGEN a good solid share, but markets can pull all shares down.

Falky, the whole planet will drift in to our sun at some stage !! LGEN has been thru many downturns since it started and its activity doesn't have the same type of risk as the high street retailers who have collapsed so highly likely to be around for a while yet paying nice divs !!

They shd commit Duffin and co to not be able to sell their options, now all at 1p to buy, until sp is above maybe 4p or more. If they really need that much motivating, and I feel it's concerning that higher paids do v lower graded staff who don't get these handouts, then a required minimum sell price would focus their minds more !!

Troajan, Looks like a possible Mob Rule scenario in the future re a Windfall Tax ? The 2020 losses need to be deducted from any WT calc and then the WT amount itself deducted from BP's planned carbon-reducing investment. Are there legal ways to refuse to pay a WT if imposed ? Maybe discrimination against Oilies whilst other sectors sometimes have bumper profits but aren't W taxed ?

Isn't any Windfall Tax applied retrospectively, based upon past profits, and thus could be contested legally ? With all the banging on about a WT, wonder how many Labour MP's own BP or SHEL or a US Oilie stock !!!

Totally agree Beetrootjuice, why can't everyone buy oil stocks, isn't that the best Hedge for high personal oil costs ? Also, BP are committed to buybacks so that is similar to increasing divs re EPS and PE Ratio.

Shazabo, I sold out at 320p and bought back in at 302p so at least have mitigated some of the drop. Today's rate of decline is less than last week and when this PWC investigation is over with no BAB adverse effects then it should climb again. I'm also LT and not worried.

Agree maidit, have never understood why trades can be wrongly identified. If I do a Sell, then my broker, ii in my case, has that info. Does anyone know why that extra field, ie Sell or Buy, is excluded from the Trades Database ?

But Widglide, how would Indian quality compare to the Volz quality ? There'll always be competition and barriers to entry are low here.

What's to stop this hitting £30 by end 2023 except a major oil reducing recession ? I also think BP will hit £6 in same timeframe.

I know that if an investment is deemed worthless one can apply to tax auth to crystalise the losses, ie to effectively write it off for now but to include any future gains on a future tax return when they occur Your question re the Concertina family investors I presume is rhetorical in the sense that 'why on earth would they invest in a losing co' unless there was a favourable plan b ?

jimmer76, if the co is hit so is the shareholder indirectly. However, Windfall Tax is inethical for a few reasons: Was there a Windfall Subsidy in 2020 when BP and SHELL had losses higher than their 2021 Profits; Oher sector cos aren't hit with similar taxes when they make super profits; higher Corp Taxes are paid on these high profits anyway.

They can and are both growing in the Renewables parts of their businesses and, though these are WIP to a great extent, significant growth can take place there whilst their Oil&Gas side is declining.
