Gogadget, I can't understand why HBR and others in the North Sea don't just tell British Govt that they are downing tools and leaving the North Sea because it is loss making for them even with paying a fee to quit !! What would it cost them to leave, to plug their wells etc... ?

Meoryou, I read that Iran and Oman are discussing some Straits of Hormuz (SoH) passage agreement per Bloomberg yesterday at about 2:45pm, thus explains why BP and other oil and gas shares fell back around that time.

Would Iran reverse on their demand for SoH passage duties and could UK and others agree a passage I wonder ?

Jds15, go easy on fordm, he obviously has his own life challenges. Making gains from investing is great, but it is not one of the most important aspects of life !! Good health and well being (both physically and mentally), close family and friends, being a kind helpful decent human, etc... are more important !! I'm also on Benefits - my State Pension !! - (where's the stigma there ?) and I've worked since I was 13 for employers (since 22 full-time though), but still work hard in my own projects !!

Some very interesting debates going on here today, but what we need now is for Jesus to do one more miracle to get the BP share price up to 650p in the next few weeks when good ole Donald is shown, again, to be the lying git many, except the Stock Markets !! ,believe him to be !!

Boxter, no-one can reliably predict right now where the BP price will be in a month, in 3 months, etc... You don't provide a timescale which is more relevant now than ever because events in ME are changing by the hour as Markets are trying to guage the statements by a compulsive liar US President, by an Iranian corrupt regime, the war action on the ground in ME and what measures Europe and other countries (excl US and Israel) can do to open the Straits of Hormuz. Another factor of course is will Iran hold any peace talks if Israel continues bombing South Lebanon.

Unfortunately there's more gambling now than usual with this share price, but, as I've already said, I don't believe Trump's assertion that Iran wants a peace deal under US conditions for peace.

Harmonica, I'll admit it's hard to hold on as BP shares fall today, haven't sold any at all, but cannot see the Iranian regime surrendering and especially with US threatening another 2 to 3 weeks of bombing Iran !! Would any nation surrender under those circumstances considering also their non fear of death and the obvious untrustworthiness of Trump and Satanyahu ?

Maybe I'm wrong and I'm losing money holding, but I do not trust Trump one bit.

Agree and the Truth will see through whilst the Straits of Hormuz remain mainly closed and the damage to ME gas and oil facilities remains broken for years !!

Still think BP price will go much higher from here, now c 608p again. Don't believe Iranians will give in, how can they trust the West, and the Houthi threat will become stronger. Even if US withdraw, the Strait of Hormuz is virtually closed and the area near Yemen will become closed.

And Jakers, just to highlight how criminal the EPL actually is !! An honest system would provide assistance, a negative EPL, when the oil and gas prices are below a certain level, but have they ever done that ?!!

Investor.com gives "Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, was last hovering at roughly $117.89 a barrel" on a 14:33 article, but Tradingeconomics.com gives c $107 a barrel !!
