75% tax is ridiculous, people criticise Russia, China, etc..., but one doesn't need to leave UK to see injustice !! Harbour and others gone from UK long before 2028 is my bet !!
spights, sure you have the right year 'The ultimatum submitted by BP workers at the 400,000-bpd Rotterdam refinery is set to expire on Monday, November 13 at 1200 local time, ', today is Monday Nov 14th ?
The drop Friday caused by two large sells circa £44m around 10:38am showing up after close which I feel shd be illegal as non transparent (the late disclosure), but hey I'm only a pi !! Defence spending more vital now than it has been for many years whayever UK Joe Public thinks !!
Smartie06, extension of the WT may be done for HMG PR and could be changed again long before 5 years is up especially if unfavourable enough and oilies move away from UK. Shel and BP have enough strength to, behind the scenes, tell Hunt/Sunak to p..ss off and move out of UK if terms unfavourable enough despite what SHEL's tip guy has said recently about the WT !!
Obsolete, thank you for a much more rational view than others on here. As I've already posted, one option for NS Oilies is to threaten to stop production. If the profits are wiped out enough by HMG, then such an option could become a reality and force Sunak and Hunt to appreciate essential oil and gas.
This may sound daft, but nevertheless !! Why not all the NS oilies in tandem threaten to halt production to get a more favourable WT agreement ? I realise short-term losses but unions have success with same strategy. May make HMG and UK public and Sky/BBC appreciate Oilies more albeit grudgingly ?!!
Hereshopin, why growth stocks ? UK forecast to recede for next 18 months, EU for next 6 though feel that's v optimistic, US v uncertain even with the optimistic spin being broadcast.....
Agreed Barnyrubble. When I saw the drop after work today I googled to see if Ukraine war was perceived to be concluding soon. There are a few price targets from major brokers / banks over £10 and you'd think they'd be well informed ?
Cruusoe, however, BAE should be able to import cheaper with a stronger GBP. Also, one US CPI drop doesn't mean a severe Recession won't happen.......a bit early to dispose of defensive stocks !!
NewYorker1, totally agree. HBR so undervalued and manipulated as an Oilie very dependent on UK NS with the WT/Levy hanging over it. Does Market still accept that new NS Dev Exp can be offset against the WT or is that option now gone ?
