RE: Pension Funds Crisis.16 Oct 2022 14:17
TheTrotsky, leveraging does increase risk, fair enough, but what I find even criminal is using leverage as a security to increase leverage further, 6-fold in some cases per the Daily Mail article. Like remortgaging a house worth £400,000, initially receiving £250,000 which is invested in Gilts and then using the security of those gilts to obtain more funds which are invested, etc. . Naively maybe, but I couldn't believe what I read about that level of risk - up to 6 fold leverage of original asset (pension funds herein), that is criminally negligent. A few people like Next's CEO and the University heads warned about the LDI's, etc... Individuals need to be called to account and put in jail.
