casapinos, good article. This elimination of FX Risk though is only beneficial if holding the alternative currency is negative, currently holding USD would be more positive than GBP !! Amazing that LGEN, etc.., aren't required to hold material amounts of USD given how in favour it is currently though USA debt level isn't great either !!

proctor44, wait a month and oil, gas, HBR, BP., SHEL, will be shooting again. Oil and gas is known for being manipulated rinse and repeat, but fundamentally SHORTAGE of Oil and Gas. Latter is currently bubbling into the Baltic Sea air, OPEC+ is 3.5m boepd lower than forecast, Iran deal a non-goer, Russia upping their Ukraine ops., US Oil Reserves still dropping, Winter starting soon, etc...

Do ye think KK and LT will be mature enough to heed the IMF's and Moody's advice and reverse at least the most controversial aspects of their mini-budget (m-b) ? Also, will they get enough votes to pass the m-b anyway ?

jlovie, Gen Elecs are years away and Govt would have to pay market value for SSE to nationalise it anyway. Labour criticising higher UK debt so how would they fund purchase of SSE and many other utilities ? I'll want at least £20 p/sh for mine !! The sp drop here is ridiculous.

Rookie1, a lot of these sp drops down to USD strength. We should all reduce our consumption of USD goods as much as possible, even Chinese Yuan hit its lowest levels v USD overnight. The other factor hitting UK and its stocks and GBP is the KK/LT mini budget. IMF asked them to reverse - they are lender of last resort - and Moodys have also hinted at country rating downgrade. KK and LT need to be mature and reverse the contentious elements of their mini-budget. I doubt enough Tory MP's will pass the mini budget anyway given the damage it is doing to the UK. What do others here think ? Are KK and LT too arrogant and ignorant to do the 'right thing' ?

Mrmarket, Nope !! Guess their update spooked some bots..40p p/sh H1 with Wind Energy down 13% due to weather (not enough wind), SSE maintains FY Forecast of 120p p/sh though..
Bought some more at 1562.35p maybe premature but SSE is solid and well in the Renewables space.

Did you know that the infamous Donald Trump even said to the Germans at some conference 4 years ago that they shouldn't rely on Russian energy as much as they were....And the 4 Germans are seen giggling begind their hands like naughty schoolboys...!! getafgrip, That's why UK Govt's strategy has to correctly target that part of industry with high exports to facilitate them reducing higher import input costs.... Encourage Make in UK as much as possible.
