What is everyone talking about? It's 4% up according to Euronext...

This is only anecdotal based on this forum and has no statistics to back it up but it does seem like to me that a lot of people have a significant chunk of their ISAs/portfolios in this company. Much more than they usually would. Anyone else agree?

It happened to me when the share price fell to the low 200s. As the mcap got closer to the sales figures I felt compelled to sell off other investments and move more than I'd otherwise be happy with to here... about 35% currently.

Rules are useful but it's never helpful to be totally married to them. I try to stick to the 20% rule but I wouldn't take partial realised gains purely to keep within 20%. I've lost out on quite a bit of money in the past banking profits largely due to psychological factors rather than sound investment rationale.

But if we do rise tomorrow to £9.18 my advice is take the money and run!!!

The US is now testing around 600000 people a day also. That is 4.2 million a week or 17 million a month. If it turns out we are involved through an OEM in even a fraction of this then that'll be huge news...

Personally I wouldn't worry too much about director dealings. Transforming this company from a small diagnostics company into a billion pound company would lead to significant remuneration for all involved - I see director buys as little more than symbolism for the most part.

gggg is it fair to say that with the new products, and now this winter multiplex, that attempting to determine the value of the company right now is impossible? I'm at the point of having simply no idea but confident enough that £200m mcap is undervalued, so am piling in. I wondered what your thoughts on the matter are...

Same. I don't like that what constitutes news over the past month for synairgen is a short interview with Richard.

Seadoc your point is valid to a degree and I don't see AZN itching to buy ncyt. But if you really still have half your short open it's obvious you must be getting nervy. You tried your hardest earlier to play down the news on the government spending plans but a £200m mcap company likely to have a significant slice of a £5bn pie... well let's just say it's no surprised you've popped up today!

Just like with another pharma stock I'm heavily overexposed here. But even so the recent news has given me enough optimism to avoid topslicing this. I really think we're due some very exciting news soon...

I don't get why you would take over such a large amount of shares in a company like this just weeks before a readout of results and yet be selling relentlessly? I understand say having a plan to derisk somewhat by a certain date but just mindlessly selling doesn't add up to me, it's as if they have no strategy at all?

You're talking rubbish seadoc, I'm sorry. Of course until we get official news of a contract or see the breakdown of that spending it's only speculation. But I will say it again. It is without question that novacyt/primer design (through its partnership with AstraZeneca) is playing a big role in the UK's testing programme. The announcement that the government plan to spend £5bn over the next two years building up its diagnostics capabilities is massive news for novacyt. I don't see it as positive or negative. If for some reason novacyt are completely overlooked then going forward this company will have to look at new ways to use its recent cash injection to grow. It's where it was before and inevitably the share price will eventually dwindle down.
IF however it does get a decent amount of that £5bn, well...

Seadoc - it's none of those things. But it involves some critical thinking and also an observance of how much money governments throw around in infrastructure projects. You can sit here all higher than thou but you can't deny that a promise to spend £5bn over the next few years building up UK diagnostics has potentially huge ramifications for Novacyt.

You keep saying this Johnny but I think you're grotesquely wrong. We're at £180m mcap vying for a big chunk of the government's £5bn of future spending. Shares rise on speculation and the upside of this is enormous.

This is the first time investing (and to a lesser degree with synairgen) where I finally believe I know more than the wider market. You only have to listen to investing 'experts' giving their opinions on novacyt with zero knowledge about the company apart from its share price movements over the past six months, and concluding that at 2000% increase or whatever its had its moment in the sun. This really is one bit of confirmed news away from exploding.

I'm personally delighted that there's no rns this morning so I can top up for the final time...

The guardian article was a crystallisation of what other members, most notably gggg, had been predicting/hinting at for a few weeks now.
