As an impartial observer, I would say that the SP has bottomed out and the market will await developments.

I see France as a key market for Eqtec and getting a French University to validate the tech is a masterstroke.

Funding for solutions to get rid of contaminated waste plastic will be very high up politicians agendas in France both nationally and locally and with the University validation and a respected local partner, we should see plenty of current and future interest.

For those that understand the science this is very significant news.
Its also great news for long term holders.

But I guess the traders simply don't get it.

I have no investments in oil.

My outrage, as you put it, is for all UK corporates, that would include Oil and Banks if they suffered a windfall tax.
It is frankly appalling that a Tory Government grabs profits in this way.

The oil industry needs a mechanism where previous losses can be offset. This was established when the petroleum tax was zero rated and it was primarily introduced to fund decommissioning so that the state didn't have to pay for decommissioning. If I was an oil boss I would tell the Government what it could do with its f**cking decommissioning.

No real surprise but very disappointed - every Government is led by crisis management in the short term and Johnson is totally media led - remember his background.

The mess they have left all our energy markets in will be dealt with as a separate crisis somewhere down the line, but for now public opinion is satisfied, a bit , Partygate has been buried and they will move on to the next crisis.

Meanwhile, a very dangerous precedent has been set and no UK corporate making profit will feel safe - frankly its little better than a tin pot African Nation nationalising its oil industry or Mugabe snatching land from the white farmers.

Good to see one of Ocado's biggest shareholders increasing their holding today - a good signal, I think that the SP is on the mend.

The two Citadel Funds have only been shorting MKS for just over a month - maybe they were just taking advantage of the volatility over the results period and will close in a couple of days. They don't seem to have done that well.

Blackrock have been shorting MKS for years - they are currently up £53m on a short they started on March 25th.

I think the markets want the Fed to be more aggressive and push interest rates higher - maybe we will see a 1% rise next time around.
The aim I think would be to induce a shallow recession to bring inflation back in line and control commodity prices.
Then by early 2023 we could start to see a recovery with inflation falling but interest rates would take longer to fall so that control could be maintained.

The bill has a sunset clause for 2025 - investment in new fields would take until at least that time to show profit.

At times like this you have to put your trust in the man in charge.
I think you will find that AB is already working on solutions to get around this, maybe even a merger with a oil company without interests in the North Sea - that would give him the opportunity to invest in Bressay and pay down debt without showing profit.

So sorry guys, it seems so unjust, especially when looking back at how far Brent fell during Covid.
Hopefully there will be ways to reduce the tax bill.

I just hope that we can hold the gains and continue in positive mode.
The fundamentals are still excellent here, just look through the short term chaotic macro.

An interesting and very good day - for whatever reason it seems the shorts took fright - lets hope we can hold onto the gains - I certainly won't mind being hopelessly wrong with my predictions.
