The partnership between Ceres and the two other partners, Bosch and Weichai is much stronger than just a trading relationship.

Bosch and Weichai are the two major shareholders in Ceres and although Ceres is independent their tech is very much imbedded into the other partners development plans over the coming years.

Therefore, it is clearly in all partners interests that relations between China and the West don't affect the business relations between the partners.

We already know that 2022 wasn't a great year for Eqtec, so the FY report will probably best be buried on the Friday before the Coronation.

As for an update on current operations, most of the good bits have probably already been released.
So unless DP is holding something good back, I guess we will just have to wait for positive news flow over the coming months.

Its only solid financial gains that are going to make a difference in 2023 and it does seem that Eqtec has the potential to at least start making those gains as the year progresses and into 2024.

The interest this stock generates in the market will be the saviour when sentiment changes, that is when the financial situation for Eqtec improves. The SP could very quickly move into overbought territory.

Ocado hold a stake in Wayve, the company developing the tech, along with some other big name companies - they invested when Wayve has a fund raise a few years back.
It will be interesting to follow developments, especially now with the growth of express delivery.

Just to update - there are 8 shorts on 5.63 % - this is down a bit from the high.

Most are doing badly on their current positions, with two heavily down - these opened in the 400's.
Three recently opened positions are slightly up.

Biochar is far from a negligible market, in fact it is fast becoming a VERY valuable trading commodity.

Large corporations, notably Microsoft, are buying Biochar to offset their carbon emissions.

The Biochar is then used by Farmers and taken it out of the carbon cycle - its as good as burying carbon in oil oil wells and considerably cheaper.

Todays inflation numbers for food were still higher that some thought - no big deal - just waiting for lower commodity prices to work though the system over the next few months.

This hydrogen combustion car certainly looks good and offers another alternative to a hydrogen fuelled car with a fuel cell.

Both technologies would benefit Ceres and would also appeal to different sectors of the car buying market, hence there would be more likelihood of hydrogen refuelling stations being built.

Also add buses and coaches powered by hydrogen, plus HGV's in the future, and hydrogen refuelling stations globally make more sense.

Weichai is part of a bigger group that will drive forward with hydrogen adoption over the coming years.

This group is called Shandong Heavy Industry Group Co, it includes a major Bus/Coach manufacturer as well as companies involved in all sorts of heavy machinery, forklifts etc etc in China and Germany [KION Group].

These companies have probably been evaluating Ceres technology for a while now, so we could see good progress after the JV is signed.

The Chairman of Shandong Heavy Industry Group Co is Tan Xuguang - he is also the CEO of Weichai.

Yes, its as clear as mud.
it seems though that the class 2 shares are just a mechanism needed to complete the consolidation.
They are worth nothing and unless you hold a share certificate you won't get them anyway.

Weichai operate from a position of great power in China with full protection from any political fall out.

Their CEO is Tan Xuguang, deputy to the National People's Congress, Chairman of Shandong Heavy Industry Group and Chairman of Weichai Group is one big hitter.

Yes and I guess there is another guru who says exactly the opposite will happen - its a crazy world.

After a few more years under the Dame leadership, JL could be a candidate for FRAS.

I think its fair to say that progress is being made, but much slower than many would like, so I stand by my statement.
The level of patience required in these circumstances is much higher than most investors realise and is exceedingly tedious.
Therefore, its much better to spread investment amongst a group of early stage companies rather than putting all your eggs in one basket, and don't invest a high percentage of your cash in early stage companies - it has to be a fun punt with high reward if the company does make it big.

The SP here has been hammered back by the need to raise equity to fund growth and the resulting dilution.

This is a highly capital intensive industry, add to that the time it takes to turn a new project into revenue and it becomes fairly obvious that cash flow will be a major issue until the pipeline becomes self funding.

From an long term investors point of view, Its simply a case of taking advantage of the dips after a fund raise to buy more shares using as little cash as possible - just enough to make a big difference to the number of shares you own.

Eventually as revenue improves the downward spiral will reverse, sentiment will improve and the SP will probably fly into overbought territory quite quickly before settling back to a sustainable level.

All this negative speculation isn't helpful.
Why not wait for the results next week?

The retail environment is certainly tough at the moment but I don't think its as bad as many commentators thought it would be at the end of 2022.
The main problem is still inflation, when that is brought under control then we should see some improvement, although there are still concerns about the fragile UK economy and particularly the fallout from Brexit.

This from AO this morning, in their trading statement, probably applies broadly to most UK retailers.
"Consistent with the themes set out in the trading statement issued on 28 February 20231, we continue to see positive traction from our initiatives to reduce costs and improve margins. The potential adverse effects from trading risks, continuing macroeconomic uncertainty and tough consumer environment that we anticipated at 28 February have not materialised to the extent envisaged and as such we are updating our profit guidance to around the top end of profit guidance issued at that date."

Ignore the bigger picture for a moment and look at the compelling case for an investment in Ceres.

Its Ceres partners that are its strength.
For example Weichi Power is a Chinese state owned company that supplies the engines for most of the buses and coaches produced in China - the worlds biggest producer of Buses and Coaches by some distance.

Ceres isn't just about hydrogen its solid oxide fuel cells have multiple applications and can also use natural gas as a fuel source.

But the main attribute of Ceres is that they use simple technology and scale it up - even their electrolyser tech that Shell are working with Ceres on follows this principle.

Investors are expecting final signing of the joint venture with Weichi and Bosch - commercial terms between Weichi and Bosch are being finalised - then large scale commercial production can start and Ceres will benefit from licencing income.

Its extremely encouraging the way that the Chinese are embracing renewables, especially when they are such a major polluter with their cola fired power stations - all credit to them.
And off course it bodes well for the JV.

We tend to think that solutions for climate change only come from our own back yard, but this is clearly not the case.
This shows that global solutions in the fight against climate change are starting to work.

The Governments policy paper on energy wasn't that well received a few weeks ago, most commentators said it was just a rehash of old ideas, however I think we have now gone past the ideas stage and are starting to see positive action, especially in the UK.

Industry itself is starting to set the agenda and Governments role now is to nurture new tech so that it can be used in the future - for example - guaranteed high electric tariffs for wave power to kick start deployment.

Its probably more important what Government hasn't done, at least so far, and that's introduce a price floor for their Energy Profit's Levy. This basically means that new investment in North Sea Oil and Gas is unviable in most cases.

In terms of our energy security we already have a renewables and nuclear future in the UK, without home produced hydrocarbons.
