The question is - when is a load sold? - when it is transferred from the shuttle tanker to the refinery is obvious but if it is transferred in Scapa Flo to another tanker for onward shipment - what happens then - is it sold when it reaches its destination?

The answer to these questions could make a dramatic difference to Enquest's fortunes this year with so much Kraken crude going to Singapore and avoiding the low point in crude prices - one load was held back in Scapa Flo and the others took a long time to get to Singapore and avoided the lowest market prices - also the crude went to the bunker market.

I don't see the move to Hydrogen being a dramatic one - more a creeping transformation on a wide range of fronts - so oil use will gradually reduce - this could be very bad news for the oil industry because supply may exceed demand as demand falls.
Also don't assume that green hydrogen will be expensive - Governments may be inclined to heavily subsidise renewable power to meet climate change goals and green hydrogen produced by electrolysis could be the big game changer - it could be fed into the gas mains to compliment and then replace natural gas.
This plan for Saltend Chemical Park on the Humber looks likely to gain approval and could be the first practical step to Hydrogen in the UK.

Today was a nasty reminder of how volatile and fragile the markets are still.
This isn't the time to enact long term plans its all about coping with the present situation by cutting costs to ensure business survival - as AB has done. All that can be done at the moment is to continue to pay down debt then when things do improve look at the options.
Maybe the best option will be to move away from oil - in the very long term the industry has no future.

Meanwhile back to the here and now - the markets recovered after London closed so tomorrow may be a bounce back?

It will be much better if we get a nice steady rise over the coming months/years rather than the continued phiz and fall we have seen recently.

It always takes a while for sentiment to reverse and a good long run to build, look back over the chart for the last three years and you can see the downward trend only to clearly, now the foundation is there to build the SP and to start the rise.

Personally, I don't care if the traders get bored waiting. I will be quite content with a long slow rise in the SP.
