Sometimes we have to face unpleasant facts, in this case it is a simple truth that in the long term oil will go the same way as coal is going and production will cease.
At the moment we cannot do without oil, but that doesn't stop its production becoming demonized. Politicians are succumbing to the green lobby and are being pushed into decisions that may well benefit the planet but it is at the expense of the economy and oil industry. Likewise fund managers, who are also exposed to pressure from the green lobby are also turning their backs on oil.
As I mentioned a few weeks ago, when Denmark made the decision to stop new licensees, I did wonder if the UK would follow, I guess if it doesn't now then it will sometime down the line.
This is why, I believe that Enquest needs to diversify away from oil, maybe to wind power. For example, The Shetland Council is looking at green hydrogen to power the Islands, maybe a hydrogen plant powered by wind would be possible at Sullom Voe.
If Enquest did diversify it would probably transform the SP - we could be up to 60p in no time - simply because its what potential investors want.
