Also you have to consider how many small companies make their living on Amazon market place and how many people Amazon employ.

So its not a straight forward knee jerk reaction to say tax Amazon - they are the machine of the digital economy.

I suppose one interesting question would be - can shale oil be produced profitably at a below $65 without breaking environmental rules?
My take, is that US producers have been cutting corners to remain viable and have been trashing the environment in the process.
romaron - Regarding AB - the CEO's of PMO and TLW have been dealt the same poor hand as AB - its just that they have failed while he has pulled through.

I think that eventually the Government will abandon the idea of an online tax but will go ahead with a windfall tax on excess profits aimed principally at Amazon, it will probably also impact the likes of Asos and Boohoo.

The US and EU are also set on bringing Amazon to heal - the irony is that China is doing the same to Ant/Alibaba.
Maybe it doesn't pay to become dominant in a market place.

Yes, but before shale they were a major market for imported oil - remove that market and the market is unbalanced and the oil price falls.

KSA wouldn't have opened the taps if the US producers hadn't over supplied the market with reckless abandon - KSA were trying to peg back the US producers - as for Covid, if the market had been better balanced the impact on the oil price would not be as extreme.

Its not all about being a good Chief Executive, you have to be a lucky one as well.
AB certainly hasn't been lucky, his big gamble to grow the company with Kraken has for far coincided with a period of weak oil prices.
If he had been lucky, then by now the SP would have been soaring, debt would have been low and AB would have been looking for the next big project.
So, yes I do have great respect for AB, which is why I think that a merger with another oil company with AB staying at the helm would be the best outcome for long term holders.
