Atisha- I also heard that 20M less people voted in this election than voted in 2020. Either there was something wrong in 2020 or 20M people decided not to vote this time round.

To me the fundamentals are still good and will wait until the offtake price deal is negotiated with Hainan. I expect it to be fair so that both parties are satisfied and the mine profitable. If Hainan play hard ball then that is a different ball game. i feel Kodal & Hainan are in this for the long term and do not expect that what happened with MG will occur. All parties want the mine to be successful. Share dealing is at quite low volumns which says something to me & I shall hold my quite substantial S/H and not quietly sell. DYOR

I suppose another question to ask is there much downside ?

Its difficult to value KMUK as we do not have all the facts. Soon we will know what the guaranteed lower & upper price of spod from Hainan will be and then I feel we will be able to get a more rational value. I am sure that Hainan wants to progress Phase 2 quickly se an adequate lower price is needed. If a reasonable lower price of say $900-1000 is negotiated then it will give a reasonable/good profit to move onto Phase 2.

The ball is now in Bernards/Hainans court- lets see what happens

Thanks Flipper- My take on the article is that any actions taken by the UK will have little effect on the outcome and therefore I will take the pragmatic view that if we our DOOM is inevitable that I will lie back and enjoy the balmy weather that we are promised.

Contango is an occurrence in the futures market, marked by contract prices rising above spot prices. This means that traders and investors anticipate an increase in prices in the coming months. The opposite of contango is backwardation, which is when futures prices are lower than spot prices.

No surprise to me that inflation is down. Seems to happen quite regularly in September- Many Benefits & Public/ Local government Pensions linked to this rate. Saves loads of money. Up in October?

I think I should voice what I and maybe others are thinking. The Mali Government looks like it wants Kodal to move onto the 2023 Mining Code, upping their stake in KMUK from a possible 25% to 35%. on terms that are materially worse than previously. As George said in his post RE: 23023 Mining Code @ 9.59am today.

Essentially 2019 code is 10% free shares in KMUK (not kodal) + 5% to local investors + option for the state to buy an additional 10% at a cost based on the value of the project. Totalling 25% maximum stake

2023 code is minimum 10% free shares in KMUK + option for state to buy (within 2 years) up to an additional 25% at a cost based on exploration/feasibility costs and 2% interest p.a + employment of locals and preference to malian companies for sub-contracting and insurance facilities. Totalling 35% maximum stake."

Reading the link he provided (which I cannot now access) it seems to indicate that the additional % will be paid for by " option for state to buy (within 2 years) up to an additional 25% at a cost based on exploration/feasibility costs ------ etc." will be materially worse than the market value if it were calculated on future earnings.

It seems to me that the Mali government, although they are entitled, are moving the goal posts after Kodal we had invested and shown our goodwill by keeping strictly to the Law at the time.while others have not. We have invested in the locality and tried our best to foster good relations. If I were BA I would be a little peeved at their actions if they insist on moving us onto the 2023 Code.

Hopefully everything will come out in the wash and matters will be settled equitably.

Thanks George for your explanation. Your explanation makes things a lot clearer.

On projects like this delays are inevitable and I am happy that we are generally ontrack. A few weeks delay maybe to first production -by end Jan 25.- no problem. BA has shown he can manage Kodal well. The groundworks are virtually complete and it would not surprise me if any delay is caught up. Hainan wants its feed asap.

What I also like is that the SPOD price appears to have bottomed and now appears to be on a slow but upward trend. Production in China and other areas has been stopped,reduced or delayed until the SPOd price increases sufficiently. while we will be making a decent profit on the way up until the price stabilises. With China trying to stimulate its economy and introducing a scrapage scheme I think this will encourage take up of EVs etc. and increase the Spod price gradually. So I think Kodal are well placed even if there is a small delay.

I am fully loaded and do not like to increase my average so I have not taken advantage of the, what I thought, was a small blip in the SP.

HMG always use a high assumed rate of interest if it in their favour. Just like they use CPI or RPI depending on if it is to their advantage.
