I do not believe it!! Has Trump agreed to the Chagos Archipelago deal with the proviso of it being a 140year lease or is he just playing Starmer ?

Anyway it maybe a good deal for some reason for Starmer but not for tghe British taxpayer or I think the USA. Giving the Chagos Archipelago to Mauritius for no valid reason and then paying them is madness. Maybe Trump thinks us paying to lease these islands for 140 not 99 years is a laugh. We are talking of 10s of £billions -really it makes me want to cry in anger and humiliation

How can I say this but... "Well done Starmer" even though you did it because Trump twisted your arm-it was the right thing to do. I think though he will have trouble with some of his MPs about cutting the foreign aid budget.

Lok. Whatever you think of Trump he is putting his country first which any leader should do. What we have is someone who does exactly the opposite- prefers to be in Davos,a lawyer who kowtows to international court who have political appointments,pays others to take our territory and imprisons our citizens for wrong thinking. I think that is just about enough for starters.

Back to Trump-why should the USA continue paying for Europes defence. He feels that the US is being taken for a ride. In his first term he made it quite clear that Europe must pay its way and some took notice . We continued to run down our military and Germany and others just ignored a perfectly reasonable request. The time has now come when Europe will have to grow up and face reality- America has had enough and we will have to pay for our own defence.

Trump is engaging in real polotics. Reality is sometimes hard to face but in this case it must be. In the last 3 years 1 million people have been killed/injured and there is no end in sight. The European powers at the start were half hearted, fickle and are not prepared to give the full support that Ukraine needed make any impression. The war is at best in a stalemate and shows no sign of ending. Trump sees this and is prepared to face reality which is that very little progress will be made against Russia and so it is best that an accomodation is reached.

The blood letting must stop another 3 years , 1 million more casualties with no progress and possible Ukraine defeat must be avoided. Regretfully a settlement on near current boundaries looks the likely outcome.

Ukraine should receive security guarantees(outside of joining Nato) from its reluctant European allies with strong allied forces stationed on its border with Russia to safeguard the agreement, similar to that which safeguarded German security during the Cold War.

It will be interesting to see if the Continental Europeans are prepared to provide support.

Lets be pragmatic about this situation. Over 500K people have been killed or wounded in this war which now has reached a stalemate do we continue with this madness are try and find a way out. Since the war started Ukraine has not recd full backing of its allies and they have had to fight while the USA,britain, Germany,France etc have restricted the use of military aid or not supplied weapons needed to end the war successfully. All it seems to have done is prolong the agony and deaths/injuries.

If Biden, Schulz and Macron etc had given full support maybe we would be in a different position but I doubt it as it may have been worse. Its time to admit that a unpalatable compromise is required.

Personally I would not mind if Kodal came to an arrangement to purchase the remaining shares off SC direct say now 2B shars at ba cost of .004p =£8M . This gets rid of the overhang and will allow Kodal to reach its true value. In December we had a cash balance of £17.5M and as we are now a producer positive cash flow will accrue very shortly.

However I think Greenland is far to big for Denmark to exploit effectively so Denamrk leases GL and gets a substantial lease payment and royalties-both happy !! GL safe from Russia as well.
