There has been rumours circulated now in the industry that the TL was behind schedule for a couple if weeks now, although without really knowing the schedule it was and still is hard to know when or where we are with the WD drill. A couple of weeks behind schedule may mean that the flare spotters could be getting excited anytime soon, or it may take another week or 2. Those things happen at it is still not an exact science and IMO every drill will be different no matter how much planning is done before-hand BWTFDIK.

Also given RT's "hands on" approch with the Spitzbergen during the Lancaster DST, I would bet good money that he was probably WoS late last week for one last visit before the AGM, ;-) maybe a couple of photo shots for the presentation, who knows.

Interesting, I did a couple of trips on the Solan project, (FV) during commissioning and wasn't aware that it was designed specifically for diver instalation, that really surprises me, even though the FDP it was approved by the UK Gov' 7 or 8 years ago. Everyday is a school day as they say.

Maybe that is a question to add to all the other irrelevant questions that people are saying they will ask at the AGM - "excuse me mister, are you using divers on Lancaster" :-)

Wellwell, Of course it's cheaper, but unless the risk is negligible and the cost of alternative solutions hugely excessive then it's unlikely that HSE would sanction any project designed specifically for diver instalation in the UK sector. I would be interested to find out which new assetts designs specifically for diver instalation that you mentioned earlier.

WellWell, that's fine, talking to some that have had input at the FEED stages of similar projects their view contradicted yours. I also think that any recommendation to put Bods in the water by TFMC would have to be justified in that the cost of non human solution is so grossly disproportionate that they can justify the higher risk of using divers. - That to me is basic H&S Law, whether you are designing a high rise building on shore, or Subsea project offshore.
Although maybe substitute window cleaners for divers onshore. :-)

Mommur, my understanding is that all new projects have to be designed to minimise the need for an Sat Diving interventions, so in my opinion it is unlikely that divers will be used except for in extreme circumstances.

Probably never use divers. As for DP going tits up, not sure the Odds are on that but for all back-up systems to also fail then they were extremely unfortunate. - pretty sure that there will be the official report somewhere if you dig deep enough.
