pump and dump is when froth is generated by pumpers who are usually selling out as they tell people all the reasons they should be getting out.

will the rise hold? ncyt is pretty bad - historically in that sense.

however the drop has been overdone..and i did say awhile back it should be back to mid 50p...when i made a trade at 47pish in early May...just took a lot longer than i expected.

so i just put it down to market cycles and corrections.

I am not sure I get the logic that to make an acquisition or more ...they would benefit in with holding information on their performance?

I think SH have been more than patient with the company...we lost a year plus with salad man,,,

the acquisition is a move in the right direction but they also need to monetise the existing portfolio

The risk to buying ygen..is that another offer does not come through and the required number of votes are not met for ncyt offer.

Where would that leave the company?

I suspect if the votes are not met then ygen will say it is that or the company folds. Another placing may not be an option.

In that case the sp could collapse even if only temporary before they went back to ncyt.

The price is too near offer price...so without any sign of another offer ..and there hasn't been. The risk / reward is not appealing.

As for ygen holders moving over to ncyt...tricky one.

The new bod additions are hardly a good sign of impending improvement.

However if they feel like many of us on here that there will probably be upside on dispute resolution...then that would be a reason

Har Chris - surely there is the other equally logical scenario that the gov could have been demanding a refund from early on and then ncyt could have said no you actually owe us money. The toing and fro ing lasted as long as it did due to the slow wheels of bureaucracy . The gov then decided that it would take things further ie court.

I think the gov are wanting to be seen pursuing money spent on COVID that they can get back.

Unfortunately the really dodgy deals are with foreign company's that the gov have no hope of getting money back. The UK companies are easy game...so the gov can look good.

Gizmo - the fact that there is ctda approval means that there is nothing wrong with the product...maybe the gov wanted a different product (better) well once you made an order and start using it - I am not sure they can change their mind so easily.

the question is what case do the gov feel they have?

most commercial litigation cases get settled before court. I suspect if the gov can get out of paying what they owe - and ncyt can keep the cash they got...this might suit everyone?

ncyt SP doubles or triples - towards existing cash in bank.

they have potentially new lease of life with YG portfolio addition.

flip side - company pretty much destroyed if gov win and get cash back...

I am not sure I would put a good ncyt result at 50-50....but it is not for the faint hearted!

Harchris - i doubt anyone would pay more than the offer price for ygen shares at present - too much of a risk you are going to lose on the transaction. so that is always going to be a ceiling unless wind of a better offer comes along.

ncyt - the shock has played out both in the rise and subsequent cash in. so hopefully people are coming to terms with the fact that ncyt do have some ambition and a pulse at last....and are willing to spend

i don't see either as an indication that the market has confidence in the offer going through.

it is a long way away...and a lot of shares will be needed on both sides (those for and against)

I hope ncyt have a better way of monetizing the portfolio ..or else could easily be a lot more expenses and staff etc.

I can't see ncyt making a much improved offer...

If ncyt are worth only £29m then they have to put it into perspective.

Val - nobody is perfect - but i think i am consistent if people look objectively at what i write and try not to be too clever and look for monsters under the bed.

If TW is right he is right.....He has been often enough in shares i have had or been interested in investing for me to be stupid to not at least listen to what he says.

i still maintain many of his critics have been in shares exposed by him. you can't blame him for that. The other criticism that he is often wrong never gets substantiated in my experience
