Yes it’s interesting that OTHER circulating proteins ie antigenic components of the virus are targeted by the immune system whereas making spike antigens alone is what mRNA vaccines do. Why is it so difficult to give the AZ as a booster? My local gp will not sanction and insists the mRNA shot is the only one on offer unless you are immunocompromised,

That 's why antibody testing will be the new norm, fingerprick type tests can identify why you are immune and which antibodies are significant, This is the first time BJ de feffle has even mentioned PCR tests and now planb whatever that is.

There is a fair amount of abuse on this board,generated by anger at "losses", there are those who engage in meaningful dialogue concerning this epidemic and provide links to relevant information.I suggested the other day that pfizer/moderna mrna vaccines could be modified to deal with spike proteins,now it in the news,they are "working on it".How long will that take? Their is some optimism that they might within two months,but this virus will continue to mutate, how long will chasing this dragon go on? Diagnostics via antigen and antibody recognition,with nova's variant detection "sequence" testing shows their foresight in recognising this.
The new variant from africa appears to be spreading fast and maybe the first serious "escape" virus so far,yet africa has a good "natural immunity" response which many unvaccinated also have.I stress the importance of antibody testing and expect nova will soon release news of this.

And now the pressure on the vaccine makers eg Pfizer to modify the “spike” mRNA generator as the one being pushed just now as a “booster” may be of little help in fighting this “super mutant”.

Why is the bio tech/moderna booster NOT being modified to take account of these mutants?
After all many of us will have recently been offered a modified flu vaccine.
