RE: If there’s a takeover in future.9 Sep 2021 13:48
For what my opinion is worth, Smallfry, I think what you meant to say is "Would it show that BG treats start-up companies so very differently to the Blue Chips with their billions?".
The answer might well lie in brown paper bags ! The big boys probably used them on the way up and maybe still do?
I admire TG's honesty and wonder if he could have oiled the wheels if he was slimier than he is.
It won't surprise anyone, that whilst it is possible TG is looking for a buyer at a decent price, as he did in Australia , I am not as sure as the rest of you that he'll do it a third time.
After years of work at TLOU , bringing it from a relatively simple Gas to Power station to a potential solar, gas, electricity and hydrogen provider for a green economy in Africa, he should feel a huge element of pride in his achievements
If I were TG, I'd want to see it through to retirement , and afterwards stay involved (but from a distance , non-executive roles?) , and reap the inevitable rewards for the rest of my days.
I might open a brown paper bag factory as a part time job :O) but TG will be able to afford to follow Emma Raducanu around the world! What a star! I spotted her in the early rounds at Wimbledon, and was so excited by her, the same way feeling that I had Tony for (AP) McCoy as a 17 year jockey!
I used to tell people to back him because he weight allowances were a ridiculous bonus for a great jockey, as he kept banging in the winners. Martin Pipe, stable owner, is from my neck of the woods - his father Dave, was my Dad's bookie in the days before there were betting shops! I used to phone some of my Dad's bets in for him as a youngster and get the race results from a daily 4:30pm radio report.
Dad was so proud of me, a primary schoolboy, because, in those days, horses did not have numbers published in the newspaper so when they said the horse's name it could be anywhere in the list of up to 40 horses. I got the results including the starting prices - and some of his betting friends used to come to the house before the classified sports results newspaper arrived in town at around 6:30pm from Bristol I think? There were two variations, one called "the pink un" and the other might have been "the green un"? Teletext and the WWW was a world away in thse days. And now Teletext has gone!
