GoldD: Once a resistance level can then prove to be a support level. I had posted back around mid-September as 120p as the next resistance point and that appeared correct with hindsight. That 120p then became a support level throughout the 5 weeks of October - through to last week. How to spot support / resistance levels ... look at the chart ... go back say 1 year and for: support look: bounces off trend lines and popular moving averages (SMA 20, 50,100, 200) and for the Resistance same again but the opposite. Its very visual and is more an art than a science.

CMBN is a good play. check it out... I am long TPT, TW, CMBN, UU and a speculative Bid on SEPU on hope of a takeover. I also hold a very risky portfolio in AIM stocks which really is all profits generated from my FTSE holdings ploughed back into high risk stocks like HNR, CTAG, PXOG, FCR ..... (all in the red) the way I see it .. they cost me nothing and if any come good... just a kicker ... combined i am up 17% YTD.....

JMO im with you. I am in Long at 8.63 now and was expecting an immediate rise to £8.90 which hasnt quite materialised as quick as i had anticipated. Not worried either as im on a small £5k trade. I bought into CMBN on Friday as the chart set up looked great and that is compensating for my down on UU.

for those of you interested in support - take a look at VOD sp.. bouncing off support at 202p and looks well over sold on the daily chart. News out tom so one sp to watch out for. Borgy

I do flutter a smile when i see posters randomly shooting prices out there in absolute and % terms ... 20% up today :-) I prefer meticulously to look at the graphs and support and resistance levels. I posted on the forum of BOO today regarding some of the TA I use BUT most important whatever you do ... look at support and resistance. why? many of my fellow ex-colleagues are programmed like that and now with the advent of technology and computer algorithms ... most often than not .. we are all looking at the same channels ... herd behaviour. I am no better at this than you lot but for me charts tell a story without all the noise of chatters and news. Borgy

Just to clarify here. what I am looking at is situations of an extreme extension of an impulse move i.e an exhaustion pattern that reverts back to the mean. This is not a trend trade, more of a quick reversion trade (anything up to a few days) Not frequent but when it happens its quite a solid move. so what i saw here with UU is the real body of candle outside Bollinger Band... we have 2 candles now with close on Friday. Expect this to revert back to the mean which on my Bolling Band set up of (14,2) is around a price of £9.13 ... upside potential from Fridays close of £8.79 (3.86%) - not a lot but if u go in with a good trading pot then RTN works. for the record as u know, there is a risk involved so take caution. in a few days we will see if this is validated. Gap filled at 120p which has proven to be a good support level throughout the month of October At 125p i foresee a move up to 140p which could then be the next resistance level. 140p was where we were at at the end of Dec/Beg of Jan. if we work that out further 12% upside potential from here. RSI at 60 so not overbought. MACD looks like turning + (hasnt yet) which would indicate positive momentum and start of an uptrend. makes sense as we have been range bound at the 120p support level for the last 5 weeks. i would define myself as a swing trader: I don't post frequently but when i do i would like to be sure. check my post of 2 days ago on UU - that is another swing play based on Bollinger Bands.

Hey Wolfhall. Im new to this share and it only came up because its price yesterday fell below the lower level of the Bollinger Band (BB) so came up on my radar. I believed that based on the natural tendency for the SP to revert back into the BB this would rise today. I was targeting £8.90 which intra-day it did exceed in the 1st hour and then pulled back. close at £8.79 today means it still has to tread back up and sit within £8.89+ ... I am sure it will do that next trading day. so to answer your question i believe the SP fell yesterday as consequence of Utility National Grid dropping 6.1 percent after reporting earnings.... price dragged down.

should expect the SP to rise tomorrow purely based on the fact that the candlestick closed well below the lower BB. Lets see if it happens.

Morning JMO, recovering from the Jet Lag? so I have now access to the charts. Yesterday, when i messaged you i was on my mobile and i presumed it was technical reason for buying at 87/86p level which it saw 14th-17th Oct 2014. Current price is at a 2 year bottom. here is my take on this. For: 1) Agree been o/sold on the stochastics since 3/10. 2) MACD postive on the daily (not the weekly) Against: 1) I don't like the price set up against the moving averages... below the 8EMA, 20 and 50 SMA. This indicates to me that the price could go lower. Rather than catch a falling knife or second guessing where the bottom, i'll wait a wee bit more to see if the daily price closes at least above the 8EMA at 89p. Candle stick close yday a Doji so will wait for confirmation. 2) check the Bollinger Band on the daily: I have often traded when i see the price close outside and below the lower BB. Normally a sure sign the price will move up and inside the BB. My conclusion: i) for a quick day trade ...could see a small price rise today as SP moves back up into the lower BB. ii) Need confirmation of the 86p being a support level before i actually considering going into this as a swing trade/ST recovery play agree with the posters - Fundamentals look sound on this. TPT is now on my watchlist :-)

JMO if I ask you why youve gone in on TPT you'll tell me your buying at support. Is this position purely a technical buy or do u believe the fundamentals will come into play

Just happened to revisit this share as i am looking through some of my earlier holdings. This was one of my holdings back when i purchased it in March 2015 £2.15 as a recommendation from Shares Mag. Ended up dumping it at £1.85 on 22nd May 2015. now that i am looking at it .. i am seeing the price at the 52 week low and on the daily chart its at support and oversold on the RSI. If there i s one thing as a chartist i do believe in ... buy at support and especially so if oversold. So purely on a chart set up this could well be a good swing play .. no idea about fundamentals purely from a technical point of view this could start trading back up. Watch it.

she is flying ....I am in two minds.. whether to sit tight or take some profits off the table ....200 SMA at 469/470 could be a resistance point to watch.

JMO. Thats my son ... loyalty with BA. I don't see a resistance at 438. its hovering around 436 simply as its risen over 5% today. SP now attempting to fill the Brexit Gap so i see a target towards the 200SMA at about 469. I was in at 423 on my first tranche and was at one stage when it had gone down to 369 about 8% down .... in profit now after 41 days .... will hold till around 460 mark and review. recovery in SP underway.

from a technical perspective we have closed above the 200SMA something we have not seen since 19OCT2015. That is very significant and if we can stay above this indicator.. confirmation of an uptrend - also 82p now becomes a level of support. I see the next level of resistance at 120p set on 8FEB2016. Volume today at 1.1m has not been seen since 27June when we dropped from 64p to 57p so a spike in volume is also a good confirmation.Hopefully on wards and upwards now ...... with news imminent i wouldn't want to sell my shares ....

90p is proving hard to break. 9FEB & 26FEB 1st & 2nd resistance at 90p then same again 31AUG and again today.... if we can breach 90p we can begin the journey of clawing back the original gap down of the 9th Feb.... we need that final push up.
