Morning Contrarian. Not disagreeing with you, you write logically. If Divi is reduced this will tank, totally. I am just not an investor but a swing trader hopping in and out and trading the range which BP has at the moment. I occassionaly pick up the divi too if i am in at the right time. I am also LT not bullish on Oil and would not be investing in oil related companies LT. ST no one knows and on Twitter the Oil buffs will debate and comment till there is no like tomorrow. Trade in the current time but invest for the future.

There is a reason for your name i understand Contrarian :-) each to their own view which always makes it interesting. The market has reacted positively to the results and this sp is ranging anyway .. so for ST traders at prices like 440 buy low and sell at the resistance of around 470p ... rinse and repeat. ... in the meantime if you are a holder ... bank the divi ... my view only... this aint going to tank and claims of BP reducing divi have been brought up before and unfounded (although i believe it is a justifiable reason) ... rather be in than out waiting for the divi to maybe be reduced. BP reported a replacement cost profit of USD1.97 billion for the six months to June 30, swinging from a USD2.73 billion replacement cost loss for the same period in 2016. This followed a USD553.0 million replacement cost profit in the second quarter. BP left its interim dividend unchanged at 10.0 US cents per share.

genelenergy - I didnt read your message until today. I already have exposures to oil and gas ( Blue Chip BP ) and a couple of AIMs in AST and I find these smaller companies risky as fck. I read up on GENL and i am not keen on the Kurdistan Region of Iraq - they are bankrupt as a autonomous region so I'll give that a miss. Message me back later if i am wrong and i'll glady eat humble pie. On JE - think the 5.5% sell off is o/done ... yes the growth was already reflected in the share price but i dont believe it warranted a fall of that magnitude today. Who am I to second guess the market so i'll watch tomorrow at the opening bell and see how the sp plays out for a possible swing entry. I did exactly the same on Tuesday with VM (Virgin Money) sp fell 9% only to start recovering the next two days....

The Chart on the Daily does look good and we have today closed above the 50 sma which is a bullish sign. closed at 163.90, 6.36% above its 52-week low of 154.10, set on Jun 15, 2017... However, what this share has against it is it is still being shorted by the big boys ... I recommend you look at this site http://shorttracker.co.uk/company/GB00BJ62K685/all at 8.75% so the sp is up against it .... doesnt mean the shorts will prevail .. but they have been right so far ...... hobione - nice 1. You should be well up in the money now. This will rise albeit slowly to 300p+. I am adamant that was an orchestrated drop .... on Tuesday ... will hold till 300p and then move on. Divi here is tiny .... hardly worth me holding for that.

Welcome Qzqz. Scroll down a few posts and you can read the article link posted ... still believe it was an orchestrated drop .. 3 directors simultaneously bought ... if there was something poor they wouldn't t stoop up theirs money .... directors buys are a vote of confidence.

well three Directors have bought this morning in the RNS release. If thats not confiidence in the SP ....... then we have a brokers re-iterating a buy TP = 390p. I have worked in the city a a trader and i know what institutions and the Market is for ... and it really is to fleece the retail investors of their money... we guys provide the liquidity for the big boys ... understand that and u will have a different view on investing. Mark my words... this company is doing well and we will retrace back up .... in the meantime sorry for the ordinary chaps who stop losses were triggered... I never ever put in stop losses in the system. Its like showing your hand to your competing poker player ... have stop loss 100% but dont show it to anyone....

Copout. I did bank 19% profit so am happy with that BUT yes.... didnt expect it to go through the resistance of 1.77p so easily. It held 2p which is a positive sign. Ideally i would like a pullback for another entry but i can see this moving on to close the gap of the 1st March with 2.42p target.
